I suddenly have nothing in my Calengoo calendar. I have a Samsung phone and a Samsung calendar which I've never used. I'm unclear as to whether the Samsung calendar is the same thing as the android calendar. I was unaware that my backups were not backing up android calendar info. Most of my calendar info is still available in Google calendar. How can I get that Google calendar info back into my Calengoo calendar?

Also, how do I set up Syncing between the android calendar & Calengoo once I have everything restored?

Hi,

CalenGoo can sync directly with Google Calendar or via the Android calendar, depending on which account you activate or enter under "Settings > Accounts". The backup saves only data from CalenGoo's own database, not from the Android system's calendar database. To make this clear the backup screen shows which calendars are included in the backup.

By default CalenGoo syncs via the Android calendar, which usually works fine. And the Android calendar then syncs itself with Google Calendar:

CalenGoo <-> Android calendar <-> Google Calendar

If nothing is in CalenGoo, please check which accounts are checked under "Settings > Accounts" in CalenGoo and which calendars are visible under "Settings > Visibility/Download". Is everything correct there?

Is the Samsung calendar empty, too? That would probably mean that your Android calendar is empty, maybe something went wrong with its sync. It might fix itself after a while or you can try to fix it, maybe in the "Settings" app by turning the calendar sync off and on again or maybe by using "clear data" on the "calendar storage" app (but you should download a backup first from http://calendar.google.com as a security precaution).

Until this is fixed, you can just sync CalenGoo directly with Google Calendar by adding your Google account under "Settings > Accounts > Add account > Google" in CalenGoo.

Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have further questions!

Kind regards

Dominique,
Thank you for your help. I fixed my Calengoo settings and all is well. Calengoo backups appear to be working properly, and the sync with Google calendar go time going again. The only glitch that occurred is that my exports from the Google Calendar did not appear to be valid. They were smaller than I would have expected, and when I attempted to import them into a TEST calendar, they failed every time. First time was in Firefox, and so I tried in MS Edge which also failed. I tried Export/Import again multiple times, always got the message "Oops, I couldn't import that file". Your program is just amazingly good & I really depend on it every day. Thanks again.

Great, I am glad that you could fix it!

When you use the "export" function in Google Calendar you usually get a ZIP file that contains multiple ICS files. One ICS file for each calendar. The ICS files are text files so you can open them with a text editor to see what they contain and check if they are correct.

Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have further questions!

Kind regards
