Hi,

I love the android calengoo app and its widgets. I really want to be able to use it on my smartwatch which runs on wear os (formerly android wear) but the play store will not allow me to download it for that device. I tried downloading the apk to my watch and I can open it but it will not sync to my google account or really do anything aside from simply open an empty calendar. Help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Olivia,

I think I have to change something in Google Play. I will examine it and get back to you!

Kind regards

Awesome! I had been meaning to ask about this but figured support for it was dropped.

When I added the watch app to CalenGoo, watch apps were integrated into the apk file of the main app. I.e. inside CalenGoo there was a small "CalenGoo Wear" app, that was automatically installed on the linked watch when CalenGoo was installed.

Then Google tried several things to reduce the download size of apps. Instead of using apk files they are now using aab files. An apk file contains icons/images and other resources for all display sizes and resolutions. Using aab files Google can create specific downloads for each kind of Android device, which results in smaller downloads. And it seems that they also wanted to prevent users without a watch from having to download the app with the watch app included. So they separated it.

"CalenGoo Wear" is now a separate download but is linked to CalenGoo (because it does not work without CalenGoo being installed on the phone). I had created this separate "CalenGoo Wear" app a few months ago and uploaded it to Google Play.

However now I have seen that I have to request a separate review of the "CalenGoo Wear" app. I have requested it but when they tested the "CalenGoo Wear" app somehow the text was cut off on their device. I have fixed it and uploaded a new version. It might take a few days for the review to complete and maybe I will have to make further changes. I will post here when it is finished.

Kind regards

Dominique

I am still working on it. Google has still found problems (cut off text on round screens) that I have to examine and fix. I will try to fix them in the next days and then make another attempt to get it reviewed and released.

Kind regards

Hi,

it seems that the Watch OS app for CalenGoo is now available in the Google Play Watch OS store.

I first had to release an official update of CalenGoo (i.e. of the phone/tablet version) and then I had to enable the review for the Watch OS app again. This time they reviewed the new version of the Watch OS app and it seems that they have released it (at least one user reported that he could now find it in the Google Play Watch OS store).

Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have further questions!

Kind regards

Dominique

I have not been able to get Calengoo on my wear os watch, tic watch.  I factory reset the watch, even reinstalled Calengoo on my phone.

Hi,

I have not been able to get Calengoo on my wear os watch, tic watch.  I factory reset the watch, even reinstalled Calengoo on my phone.

thank you for your email! Google wanted me to remove the WearOS app from the Google Play store due to a problem with the store description which I did not understand. However to be able to upload new updates of CalenGoo again, removing the WearOS app was the only option. Maybe I can try to upload the WearOS app again in the future but in the meantime you have to install it manually:
  1. Install the "Wear Installer" app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.freepoc.wearinstaller
  2. Download https://android.calengoo.com/calengoowear-release.apk and install it on your watch using the "Wear Installer" app.
That should work fine.

Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have further questions!

Kind regards

Thanks

Hi!

What do you mean with "Wear Installer is not available on the watch."? The Wear Installer app is an app that you have to install. It is not available by default on Android Wear devices. You can find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.freepoc.wearinstaller

The app will install on my pixel 7 but it is not available to install to my watch.  When I run it on my 7 it says I need to also install it on the watch.

Have you tried to install the "Wear Installer" app on your watch? Maybe using the Google Play store on the watch?

Kind regards

Hi,

I have examined it further and it seems that due to changes in Google Play you have to use a slightly different method now. There is now a new version called "Wear Installer 2". You can find further information about it here:

To install the app, first become a "Tester" on

Then download the app from

You can find a video explaining the app here:

And an additional help page here:

Does it work now?

Please try this and don't hesitate to contact me again if you still have problems or if you have any questions!

Kind regards
