Question about task due dates

Hello:  I like being able to assign due dates to tasks, but the way I have Calengoo configured, a task with a future due date will not show up in my Agenda view until that date arrives.  Is there a way to have tasks show up in the Agenda View for today's date when you create them, but have a future due date?  I guess I'm looking for a separate Start Date and Due Date capability for tasks that span days/weeks.  Am I missing some option in Settings, or is this just the way it works?
