G'day Dominique,
I am still struggling with the behaviour of Markdown. There are some odd behaviour that I can't make sense of.
The buttons at the bottom of the field for the various formats behave as expected, but I still can't makes sense of what is happening to other text elements that I may type into the Description field.
When I type the following using the format control buttons at the bottom;
It turns out like the following;
The first few lines containing the formatting from the buttons seems fine. The two list sections are further apart than I was expected…
But;
The first closing ")" just disappears
but everything, all lines of text after the second ")" is just purged.
And why a full-stop (period) and space in the centre of the paragraph causing the two sentences to join without a gap has me baffled.
The other thing I noticed was that every time I opened the description for edit and closed it, the number of lines after the unordered list would increase by 1 additional line. And that change is permanent, even if I cancelled the change to the event.
I did consider switching from Markdown to HTML format, I found that editor so difficult to use, it was just frustrating, for;
- The text was so tiny. It seemed to be less that ½ of the font size used in markdown. Selecting text was too difficult, and the pop-up dialogue from the OS tended to get in the way of seeing what was selected.
- I tried using the button buttons to change the formatting as I was typing, but formatting kept turning off unexpectedly. For instance, if I turn on Bold, type a few words, tap Bold again to turn it off, and then press CR to get to the next line, the bold format would be deleted.
That didn't work for me.
I thought perhaps foregoing what little formatting Markdown afforded and switching to "<br/> only" mode, but that just ended up removing any blank lines I inserted for formatting purposes. Unless, of course, I type a space on each blank line…
Do you have any idea what Markdown is tampering with content that appears outside its jurisdiction?
Thanks,
David…
