Hi, I have always used for years a Calengoo single-day widget (4x3) in my Samsung(s) to immediately recall all my upcoming scheduled events.
Since a few days ago, my upcoming whole-day events are not visible any more, while the time-scheduled ones appear correctly.
To note that I have always had a direct sync from my Google calendar to Calengoo, and all worked like a charm. I checked the weekly-widgets, and they reports well both the whole-day events, and the time-scheduled ones. I uninstalled and reinstalled the single-day widget, I rebuilt the databases, I refreshed the calendars, but ..... the single-day widget does not show my whole-day events.
Any advice?  Thanks in advance!

Hi,

thank you for your email! Do you mean that you used the "Agenda" widget and configured it to display only a single day? Because the "Day" widget does not display all-day events (I have only added this very recently and did not get any feedback to far). 🤔

Kind regards

Dominique, thanks for your quick reply. I'm very much referring to the Day widget, which always showed me all my day-events without any special set-up, and I'm surprised in reading that you added that option recently. On the contrary I assumed you disable that in one of your most recent updates. The Agenda widget and the Weekly one work well, i.e. show the day events, but not the Day widget any longer.
Any suggestions?

Hi Aldo,

thank you for your email! What do you mean with "whole-day events"? Do you mean "all-day events", i.e. events that have only a date but no start and end time? Or do you mean events that have a start and end time but just span most (or all) of the day?

Additionally there are multiple styles for the day widget. Which one do you use?

Kind regards

Dominique,
Yes, I am talking about all-day events with no start/end hour, hence spanning the whole day or multiple full days.
Until short time ago I had them fully visible in the Day widget, using the "Text" as a style of the four that I see available.

Strangely, this morn an all-day event popped-up (in the Day widget), the very day it was scheduled to start, while other all-day events starting in the next days are not shown. Instead, other future events with a start/end time are fully displayed.
That sounded strange to me, therefore I first tried to uninstall/re-install Calengoo, re-link my Google calendar, etc before approaching you and ask for any update or change you might have injected.

Thanks,   aldo

Hi Aldo,

I am sorry, I have checked it again and you are right, the "Text" style could already display all-day events, I had only added it to the other widgets. However, they are only displayed if there is enough space. Are there maybe too many timed events so that there is no space left for the all-day events?

Kind regards

Dominique,

Actually, I suspected a space issue around that display problem, but currently my Day-widget shows a day-event occurring today, while I cannot see another one occurring in 4 day time, instead the widget displays other 5 time-scheduled issues up to 3 week out ..... that seems odd, unless the app is (currently) scripted to do so ....
I guess you only might have advice concerning what can/cannot be done.

In facing that Day widget issue, I am now testing the Agenda widget as a replacement (i.e. Agenda widget, 3x3, "Android 5" style), and here I can see that the (full) Day events occurring across multiple days are displayed only once, specifically the very first day they start and they are (oddly) not repeated throughout the multiple-day period.
Is that correct?

Hi Aldo,

you are right, currently the day widget displays all-day events only if they are on the current day and if there is enough space left.

The agenda widget should display the all-day events in the same way as the normal calendar views in CalenGoo. Did you configure them to display multi-day all-day events only on their first day?

Kind regards

Hi Dominique,
You are right, in the Agenda widget I had (wrongly) selected the option to display the Day-events the very current day only. Now they're displayed across the whole period.

Quick question: in the future, do you envisage to restore that option in the Day-widget too, in other words to display  1) all the future Day events as they are beiong approached, and  2) the Day events for their entire period and not only when they start?

Thanks again for your support and compliments for a very excellent app I've been using for years and  years.

Kind regards,    aldo

Hi Aldo,

as far as I can see it was always this way. I.e. I cannot "restore" that option, because it was not changed, so it cannot be restored. I am now not sure if anyone expects only the current days' all-day events to be displayed in the widget. But you are right, that one would usually expect the all-day events of all days to be displayed, not just the current day. However, the day widget has very limited space and the scrollable agenda widget can display more events. So isn't the agenda widget better for this purpose anyway? 🤔 Or do you like the design of the day view better? 🙂

I am glad that you like my app and I hope we can find a good solution for you! 😊

Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have further questions!

Kind regards

Hi Dominique,
Thanks for your reply
Since as alternative I started using the Agenda widget (4x3), I am testing now a couple of styles in order to select one as closer as possible to "my old" Day-widget "text style".

As a first approach, I noticed that:

1) "Android 5" style, using the calendar colors as a baseline, selecting/unselecting the use of of colored bars for Day-events and scheduled ones, the behavior never changes, I always see bars for any type of event. Any suggestion to shift to simple text with no full bars to display events? (in the "simple" style this works well)

2) "Simple" style, selecting/unselecting the "show empty day", empty days are never displayed (in the "Android 5" style this works well). Any workaround?

Thanks!
