Got this from -US/content/unit-focus-%E2%80%93-p80-shooting-star Oh and the Japanese one is apparently called the Nakajima Kikka, I'm going off the unit identification sheet in the BP box, the Kikka is under the dive bombers section not under the fighters section, does that mean Japan's first jet was a dive bomber? Oh, to unlock both of the units you MUST reach the rank of Fleet Admiral (last rank) Which some people are apperantly at already.
Battlestations: Pacific expands on Battlestations: Midway in several ways, adding new combat features such as more advanced submarine combat, more easily customizable planes and ordinance loads, island invasions, which have effects on the battle at hand. New weapons, planes, and ships were added, such as HVAR Rockets and experimental fighters, including the Kikka and Shinden, along with kamikaze units, such as the Ohka and Kaiten; there are also some more conventional aircraft and ship additions.
Release date: Jul 2, 2009. 6 units; 9 US pin-up nose arts & 9 Japanese nose arts for vehicles.Included units: P-51 Mustang, G5N Liz long range bomber, Alaska-class cruiser, Montana-class battleship, Kuma torpedo cruiser, Super Yamato-class battleship.
The games now includes several different types of environment effects, most notably the addition of night, day and other weather effectsOver 100 playable units are includedA Japanese campaign which reflects plans that the Japanese had constructed if the pacific war had turned in their favour is also included with the historical US campaign. The usability of the game has gained developer attention, with the learning-curve being shortened and the tabs for launching units and repairs was simplified.
At first glance you might mistake this for the WWII edition of the famous Milton-Bradley game Battleship! Even though it is true that most of this game takes place out at sea, the battleships and gunboats only make up a small portion of the controllable units. You will also get to control airplanes, bombers, and submarines. As you get promoted in rank, you will unlock better vehicles and gain command of bigger squads. As you play in a mission you will be commanding all your different units from the map screen. The interesting thing is that at any given time you can take control of any unit you may have on the field. Feel like dropping bombs, take control of the bomber, and so forth and so on.
The last thing is the Multiplayer that is included in the game. Currently there is only nine maps to reenact your favorite moments from WWII, but like every other game (or at least it should be) there will be content downloads for this one. Most of the maps that you get to play on you will have already played in the Single-Player campaign. Battlestations: allows for up to 8 people to play out there old war fantasies. Each player can control a specific fleet, squadron, or unit. All the maps are team based no death match here. So because of that communication with your team is the key to achieve victory. The only real problem you will run into in the multiplayer is that even though the units are balanced, the maps are anything but. You will often find that a few of your teammates start with less than favorable odds. In this instance you can either restart, or just make sure you reinforce your partners starting base.
Battlestations: Midway was not an ordinary World War II game. As you took command of the Pacific fleet in some of the largest naval battles ever fought, you had at your disposal battleships, submarines, aircraft carriers, dive-bombers, fighter planes, torpedo bombers, cruisers, and destroyers. More than just a real-time strategy game where you issued units simple orders to attack and defend, Battlestations: Midway put you in control of each of these units in a third-person action view. After orchestrating a battle plan on a top-down strategy map, you could then control any of your units, each with its own unique control schemes. The decisions were not always easy. Do you control the torpedo bomber and try to dodge AA flak to get a critical hit on an enemy carrier, or do you dive, dive, dive in a submarine and put a hole in an enemy battleship as it bears down on your own carrier? This blend of action and strategy set Battlestations: Midway apart.
We have also improved accessibility--this has been a key objective for us. We have reworked the user interface, and players will now be able to carry out commands and control their units through more intuitive and effective mechanisms. Additionally, we have laid more emphasis on training players how to use their units, weapons, and tactics effectively against the enemy in specific contexts.
And of course Allies can do kamikaze attacks and ram enemy ships, but they won't do any serious damage to the Japanese vessels--the Allied air power lies in superior units, and they won't have a dedicated kamikaze unit in the game. The Corsair and Hellcat are the best kamikaze hunters.
GS: There were already a ton of military units in Battlestations: Midway, and now you tell us there are 20 new units to play as. What are they, what can they do, and what are some of your favorites?
BS: There are 100 units in the game--20 new ones, too many to list here, but we included most of the highly requested units from every type. My personal favorite is still the F4U Corsair equipped with rockets--a very effective plane which is great fun to play. From the Japanese side, I would choose the I-400, which was the biggest submarine of the whole second world war--a very dangerous underwater unit in the hands of a skilled commander.
BS: Island capture is a new feature where players can capture islands and take control of weapons, radar, and more. We felt that just controlling individual soldiers would take the focus away from the fighting machines. Battlestations: Pacific works on a different scale, so we decided that the player should be able to control a variety of landing ships, LSTs, and huge transport ships--these carry dozens of small assault boats that you can launch to the shores. They are similar to other in-game units, you can fully command and control them, and launch the assault when you are close to the landing zone. Also, I have to mention the transport planes filled with paratroopers--you can also control these planes and decide where you want to deploy your troops.
Siege Mode allows one side to defend a base with their units while the other attempts to take over it. Competitive Mode allows everybody to work together, but ultimately it all comes down to the number of kills or objectives completed. Duel Mode has the units chosen pre-battle, and each person controls one unit individually until a certain number of kills are made.
Never give an order that cant be obeyed, General MacArthur also said. Keep that in mind as you play through both campaigns, where youll have access to dozens of authentic planes, ships, and submarines as you juggle controlling a particular craft and overseeing big-picture battle strategy. Set formations, order your units to behave offensively or defensively, and set patrol routes. During combat, you can switch between units, allowing you to, for example, maneuver a fleet into position before hopping into the cockpit of a plane and taking off from an aircraft carrier.
If you find yourself shot down or sunk, dont worry: simply take control of another available unit and join the fray once more. Each mission presents a series of objectives for you to achieve, such as eliminating a certain number of enemy units or ensuring that your comrades in arms reach a specific destination. Complete all objectives to earn gold medals and unlock new units that can be used in future missions; complete the secondary and hidden objectives to earn naval supplies that confer bonuses, such as improved unit effectiveness or the ability to summon air strikes.

Competitive: Team with up to seven other players to attack enemy units worth various points. The one who racks up the highest total wins. This mode typically comes with objectives too for example, you could be tasked with defending a base, and if the enemy takes it over, the session will end. Otherwise, the match is over when a time or score limit is reached.

American pressure worked on all cylinders to bring this about. Roosevelt had already abrogated the 1911 trade treaty and sent his ambassador back to Tokyo there to deliver a resounding blast against Japanese military actions in China. Simultaneously, fighting units of the US fleet and air force began taking up battle stations in the Pacific. Great bombers were sent in formation to the Philippines. The major fighting divisions were posted at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
