Banerjee on building stronger
clubs |
The best way for incoming district
governors to build stronger clubs is to serve as role models and lead as equals, said RI President Kalyan Banerjee at the International Assembly this
year in San Diego. “A great
leader is someone you can trust not necessarily to have all the answers, but to be able to find them,” he explained. “And it’s
someone who will listen, who will not dismiss your concerns, who will take the time to take you seriously.” Read

How diverse
is your club? | In Brazil, the Rotary Club of Resende-Campos Eliseos,
Rio de Janeiro, has gained more female members by inviting couples to join. “It keeps our club balanced, plus members are already familiar with
each other and Rotary,” says club president Renata Santos, a 30-year-old Afro-Brazilian. Another approach to diversity enhancement is launching culturally based clubs. Don Kremer, a past governor
of District 5230 (California, USA) who helped start the Rotary clubs of Fresno Latino and Monterey Korean, notes, “We have a great opportunity
to develop new members while helping our communities.” Read more.

Rotaractors
reach out to Rotarians | More than 60 Rotarians gathered in computer
labs at a local college in Houston, Texas, USA, to learn how to set up Facebook and Twitter accounts, upload YouTube videos to their club websites, and download apps like the Club Locator to their smartphones. The workshop was taught by Rotaractors and Interactors from
District 5890. “Social and digital media are growing at
an exponential rate, and for many Rotarians, it’s harder than ever to keep up with the strategies, tools, and tactics,” says Tommie
Buscemi, the district’s New Generations committee chair. “Rotaractors are at that age where a lot of this valuable information is second
nature to them.” Read more.
