The internet has had USENET discussion groups for a long time, and in 2004 Google acquired the rights to these discussion groups and renamed them Google Discussion Groups. Whatever your interest, it is likely that you will find a discussion group devoted to that subject. Google also made it easy to set up new discussion groups, and there is now a discussion group solely for readers of Calculus Without Tears. The web address of the group is
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/CalculusWithoutTears
Go to the web address above and you will be at the home page for the discussion group, you will see a list of topics for discussion. You can read the messages for a topic by clicking on the topic name.
If you want to add a message to an existing topic, or to start a new topic with a new message, you'll need to sign up for a Google account, which is free. Once you've signed up, you can join the group and make your own contributions. Ask questions, assist other readers, share experiences, etc.
When you join the group you will be asked if you want to receive group email or not. If you elect to receive group email, each message sent to the group will also be sent to your email account. If you respond to the email, it will be added to the list of messages for the current topic, and sent to all other group members who opted to receive email.
I am interested, but unable to commit at this time. I wouldn’t mind receiving the emails, but won’t be able to participate.
