is calatrava appropriate for tablet app

The changePage method in calatrava always switch the whole screen to another look (I checked out the iOS implementation it either calls 

popToViewController or pushViewController). However in tablet (ipad/nexus7, etc) it is not uncommon that actions in the screen doesn't switch the whole look but just a part of it, e.g. a popover or a dropdown, etc. What is the appropriate way to use calatrava for such cases please?
