Hello team,

some of you have asked me to share release plans as soon as I can to make it
easier for distributions to plan their releases, so here it goes.

I'm looking to have a 4-week cycle for Calamares 2.3 (twice as long as for 2.1
and 2.2), with encryption support as the main focus of the release. The
feature is tricky so the dates are very much subject to change if the task
presents more difficulties than expected.

Tentative schedule for Calamares 2.3:
08/04/2016 - 2.3-alpha1
15/04/2016 - 2.3-beta1
20/04/2016 - 2.3-beta2
22/04/2016 - 2.3 final.

If by 22/04 I evaluate we need more testing/fixing, that day's tarball will
become -rc1 instead of final and I'll keep making release candidates until I'm
satisfied with the quality.

Calamares 2.3 will also require a new release of KPMcore.

Cheers,

Hi Teo,

As one of those that requested it, I would like to thank you for sharing the schedule! I think it will be useful for all distributions.

Fwiw, the 2.3 final release seems to be great for Chakra, since the plan is to ship a new ISO in March.

Good luck with the new features. =)
