I think there is an incoming patch to make this easy to do on windows

- you'll need access to a physical device or a mac running simulator though

Hi
I need access to a physical device.
Because I don't think I would have access to the simulator on PC

Therfore, do you have any idea when I can use a PC windows to run a test

I can't seem to find it.

What problems are you experiencing on windows? Also please mind that the instruments tool is not available on windows so you'll need to launch manually

I will receive a build for an ios device soon.   Downloaded and installed calabash for android on windows PC yesterday. Found this blog and wondered in there was indeed a patch in place since your last 04/23/2013 post.

Just so am clear,  I can still:
1) Download calabash-ios on a Windows 7 pc,
2) Go through the installation set-up steps
3) Connect a physical iOS device
4) launch application manually

And it will work?

I haven't tried myself, but yes, I think so.

Thank you much :)

I am completely new to Calabash and more so to Calabash-iOS,  Due to time constraints I have to try and work Calabash-iOS first instead of trying to get to know the tool better by working with Calabash-Android.

To that end:
I downloaded a vaguely similar open source iOS project.
cd'd to the .xcodeproj folder
Installed cucumber
when i run calabash-ios setup, here's the cmd output:

Checking if Xcode is running...
'ps' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Xcode not running.
Found no *.xcodeproj files in dir ..

I am trying to run calabash on a physical device

On windows you can only run on physical devices (since there is no simulator).

So you must

1) obtain an ipa for the app (linked with calabash) and install on your device

That would work, yes.

I got it to work on a MAC and on a Virtual Machine on Windows. At some point i will also look at trying to get it to work from Windows, but later in my automation effort. Just so you know, Fast track is a breeze if everything else in your system is set up right :). Thank you!

I have another question: I need a functionality from Calabash-iOS to be able to talk to multiple same platform iOS  devices connected to a single OS X. All at once is ideal but i would also look at sequential. So Is there some way I can do this?

thanks much!

Are you using Xamarin, by any chance?

Nope, isn't that the new company/application that has acquired Calabash. I vaguely remember reading this somewhere

I have some success of running the ios tests on windows directly on the device using .ipa files. The steps are described here

One drawback is i had to launch the app manually and I am figuring out how to use the bundle id option to have calabash launch the app.

No. The problem is that the Xcode tools do not exist on Windows.

But above it was said that testing on Windows + physical iOS device is possible. Has something changed?

The original post was from 2013.

Since then, many things have changed.  The most important thing is that Calabash now depends on Apple's instruments.
