Pacifica has the original insulation (or lack of) an is not very good. The compressor runs way too much. We put a blanket on top and it gets very cold and sweaty under the blanket. It needs more insulation.

What have others done to improve this problem.

I am considering giving up some space and lining the inside wit an inch of high R value foam. Our compressor runs on AC only and since the diesel power plant is long gone we have to use shore power to re cool the fridge.

It's not cheap and don't breathe it but aerogel insulation is about the best thing out there. It is hydrophobic. No water absorption worries. Can be cut with heavy shears. Is only about 1/2" thick. Wrap it around the outside of the box (inside the cabinet) or inside the box then protect it with fiberglass or pvc panels sealed at the joints for easy cleaning and finished look.

Another option is poured in foam. Drill holes at the top of the cabinet pour foam in. Do it in small batches so that it doesn't expand and burst the cabinet walls open. Fill holes with bung and finish to match.
