Friends,

Please review the attached documents re: a possible immigration training event during the Western Jurisdiction gathering January 21-23, 2011.  One is a proposal (word document) and the other is a projected budget (pdf).  Please let me know if anything is missing.  Linda, there is a question I could not answer.  Can you please see question # 5?

For those of you who may not know, Bishop Brown conveyed his interest and support for the Cal-Nevada AC to host an immigration training event at the western jurisdiction gathering in 2011.  He would like the ITF to host it and he hopes and has suggested that we implement and realize the fall 2008 event we had to postpone.

Many thanks for your quick responses/reflections.  I ask you to be clear and concise with any revisions/suggestions.  We need to submit this proposal by Friday, May 15th!

Peace of Christ,

Brenda

upon arrival in the us, immigrants become part of racial ethnic
communities & thus face the same challenges of racial discrimination &
economic exploitation. in light of this & the recent statement on
immigration from the council of bishops (attached), i've attached
recommendations highlighted in the attachment for your consideratin. it
wuld be awesome fur cal-nevada to host this event. i pleadge to do
whatever i can to bring the general agencis on board. blessings,
kelvin

I am glad that you are doing this event. The task force needs to get in
touch also with GCORR. They have resources that can help in the organizing
of the event as well. I am copying Mrs. Kathy Thomas-Sano. She is the
Associate General Secretary with responsibility over the Western
Jurisdiction.

Phil,

Most definitely!

We had originally invited several immigrant rights and legal/social service folks to our immigration convocation planned for last fall.  It is my hope we can invite them again.

Peace,

Brenda

Brenda,

The proposal looks good.   I would suggest that at least 2 members of the Western Jurisdiction Inter Ethnic Coordinating committee be a part of the Design team along with a Bishop and a Director of Connectional Ministry.
