At UC Berkeley we are committed to taking action to be sustainable, resilient, and environmentally-just. Join us for the great events we have this month to celebrate this wonderful planet we call home!

 

 

Cool Campus Challenge is Back and We Need You!

April 1st - 26th

UC-Wide Call to Carbon Action

Want to take action to tackle climate disruption, have fun, and crown Berkeley the Coolest UC? From April 1-26, all ten campuses are going head to head in the Cool Campus Challenge. The goal is for all faculty, staff and students to reduce their carbon footprints and help the University of California become carbon neutral by 2025.

Sign up now: http://www.coolcampuschallenge.org and start pledging your carbon reducing actions.

  • If you've signed up but haven’t gotten fully engaged yet, why not try the Cool Climate Calculator and Reduce your computer power usage pledges for 500 points each? Or watch a great Climate Lab video and Nominate your Climate Hero for more points! Take 10 minutes to achieve 1,000 carbon saving points or more and win solar chargers and gift cards.

UC Berkeley’s 2019 CACS Annual Sustainability Summit

The campus community is invited to the annual Chancellor's Advisory Committee on Sustainability celebration. This year's summit is a call to action to reduce our carbon footprint here and in the world and engage in the Cool Campus Challenge!

Leading the Pack: How Companies are Collaborating to Tackle Plastic Packaging Waste

Thursday, April 18th 12:30-2pm | Spieker Forum, Chou Hall, Haas School of Business

Hosted by Haas Center for Responsible Business the Peterson Speaker Series with key industry players collaborating to overcome our reliance on plastic packaging and the resulting waste.

Prison Abolition is Environmental Justice

Monday, April 22nd 6-8pm | 159 Mulford Hall

Mass incarceration, failing prison infrastructure, and penal labor are pressing environmental injustices that are often overlooked. Join the Student Environmental Resource Center and Underground Scholars to discuss the relationship between prisons and the environment, and further the idea of prison abolition as an environmental justice issue.
