“University of California campuses are phasing out single-use plastics as part of a bold commitment to achieve zero waste, furthering its long-established, innovative sustainability efforts and goals.” UC Berkeley has taken this commitment further, with a policy calling to eliminate all single use plastics by 2030.

TGIF Mini-Grant Schedule

TGIF's Fall Mini-Grant applications are NOW open! TGIF will fund student research, internships, and especially welcome creative and flexible virtual projects! All students, staff, and faculty are welcome to apply, and could receive up to $5,000 towards their project. Applications are due October 16th, at 5:00 PM PST.

2020 Global University Climate Forum

We are pleased to announce the opening of the application period for the 2020 Global University Climate Forum. UC Berkeley is one of 11 universities that are part of the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) sponsoring this initiative. Multidisciplinary teams of students at all levels from all parts of the world are invited to submit their ideas for climate action projects. Applications are due by midnight EST on September 30th, 2020.

October Earth Justice Month

Earth Justice Month is a collaborative series by the Student Environmental Resource Center (SERC) and UC Berkeley’s environmental campus departments and organizations, encompassing Zero Waste and Climate Justice. We aim to recognize sustainable efforts on-campus and beyond while further advocating for inclusive, equitable paths towards a racially, environmentally, and socially just future. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, events have been designed to be hosted online.
