Is it true that you can only apply effects like compression to already
recorded information when you edit it? Is there a way to apply effects to
material as it is being recorded without having to use an outboard effect.
Ideally I'd like to use a compressor/gate to keep the input signal from
clipping while recording. I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!
