Hey, what would you all suggest to get a Theremin effect/sound, but in a way
that would track to a tone so it could be played as a melody? For example,
the way its used in Good Vibrations ?

Thanks!
-Eric

If you happen to have a Roland 2080 or 5080 or something along those
lines... there is a patch I adore called "helium queen". It's not exactly
a true theremin but very cool nonetheless...

Actually, I think that was a saw and bow. But Theremin should
definitely fill the bill. ;)

I had a good rummage around and some one pointed me to spooky keys
a few years back (http://www.simple-media.co.uk/music/vsti/vsti.htm)
Can't remember who that was, but it's totally wonderful.
Not sure if it'll do the tone tracking you're after but as a freebie it's
a must have.
Cheers
Steve

I heard of the Tom Polk thing for the Smile tour, I live in Austin and there
was quite a bit of buzz about that around that time. I didn't realize
there was a separate name "Tannerin" for that version of the instrument
though.

Anyway, thanks for suggestions on the link to Spook Keys... I was trying
to get a good effect out of MiniMonsta with an okay result, but not really
nailing it. Spook Keys nails it.

Thanks again,
Eric
