I am still waiting for a card with the Tascam TDIF connector on it
for the computer other than the MOTU 2408 to transfer digital audio
from the DA-98 to the computer. I heard AArdvark is making one and
some other companies to. Does anybody know anything??? If so
please let me know. I would like a choice of products to choose
from instead of just the 2408. I've called all around and nobody
has anything at the moment. My guess is they have not released
them yet. I guess they put items on the their Web site for us to
drool and wish for even though they are not made yet.

Thanks

I think the Soundscape Mixtreme PCI card has one or two TDIF interfaces
on it.

Although it lacks a TDIF connector you might want to talk to Frontier
Design or Sonorus with an Apogee converter if you need it right away
I have not used this setup but Frontiers will let you know how well it
works and if there are any problems. I've found their support super.

Yes, WaveCenter with the Apogee FC-8 will do the job. BUT, then again,
for that, why not go with the MOTU 2408. You get so much more and the
ability to change to and from any format you want. I think that's a smarter
choice right now...

Tascam has a new format converter box that does ADAT <=> TDIF for $150. I haven't used it with my WaveCenter yet, but I used it to dump some DA-88 tracks to ADAT and it worked like a charm.

I looked this up on the Tascam website but there is no information about
it. Only a NewsPost. Where did you buy yours?

I'd like to know a little bit more about this box. How would that
help me get all my tracks into the computer. Forgive me but I
don't see how this will work. For 150.00 that would be a steal.
Right not I have the Card-D. Would I not need a different sound card
to. Thanks in advance......

I was actually responding to the suggestion (I forget by who) to get a WaveCenter and an Apogee converter. Last I checked, the Apogee converter (FC-8?) was in the neighborhood of $400. The Tascam IF-TAD does the same thing for $250 less.

True, an ADAT<=>TDIF converter would be of no use with a Card-D. If you want to go digital from DA-x8 to HD, you're going to have to get a different soundcard, and right now the WaveCenter / IF-TAD combo is the cheapest way to go - only $650.

I got mine from a local place here in Seattle called Pacific Pro Audio, but I've seen them at Guitar Center for the same price.
