Hi all,
I have been cracking my head hooking up my dad's keyboard (Yamaha PSR-79) to
Cakewalk 8 but I just can't get any succesful recording. Anyway, my main
problem is that I do not really know how to configure Cakewalk to actually
record the midi signals from the keyboard. Just in case you are wondering, I
am using a Midi cable which I connected to the joystick/midi port of my
sound card. I am also wondering if I need any driver in Cakewalk in order
for it to recognize the midi signals from the keyboard.

All help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

look In your "users guide" on page 2-19. for set up of your midi stuff in
cake.
If that still doesn't help, post a question on what part you don't
understand and i will help if i can.

Go to Tools>MIDI devices.
Select only the sound card's MIDI in and MIDI out. Click "move selected
devices to top".
Ensure that you have th IN cable of the MIDI cable in the OUT of your
PSR and vice-versa.
In the track view, select a channel, and the fist port. It should say
your Sound card's In.
No you don't need a driver. You shouldn't anayway.
What kind of sound card is it?

I need to know similar information - my keyboard controller only has one out
midi, and I have a SBlive card with a joy-stick/midi adapter, and a Roland
JV1080 synth, with a Mackie mixing board. I have been using soundfonts on the
SBLive to record thus far and everything was easy to set up, works beautifully.
But I can't figure out how to route it to pick up the new 1080. Any ideas? I
have gotten the instrument definitions and put them in. That's as far as it got.
