Bravo on your initiative to learn and help others learn the French of
Louisiana! I teach Cajun French at LSU. I've been working on a new
website that would offer a sort of clearinghouse of materials and
resources that can help people like you. The site is not yet
complete, but I think it's in a reasonable state to present to an
interested public that could give me some solid feedback.

So please check it out and let me know what you think.

Fantastic!  Thanks for sending along the link to your site.  It will be a great resource for those of us doing "remote" study.  I wish I had taken French when I was at LSU!

I just installed the BYKI stuff and tried the "basic greetings" lesson.  Excellent!  With sound!  My son's going to love this.  I was worried about my French accent being too "international" for proper français louisanaise instruction.  This will give us both a good sound reference.

Glad it'll be of use. We're going to do more BYKI lists as soon as we
can get our act together. Bon courage et lâche pas la patate! Let me
know how things progress for you and your son.

Well, today we worked on BYKI list Cajun 02 "Taking leave."  My son mastered the Basic Greetings and is enjoying this way of doing things.  I'm making Quizlet lists based on these lessons to give another way of working with the vocabulary sets.

I really, really appreciate these BYKI lists you put together.  They are a great resource.

Cheers,
Donavan

C'est magnifique! Once you've got the Quizlets up, if you make them
public, I'd love to know so I can pass them on to my students and
others.

The sets I'm making are all linked to from this Quizlet group:

http://quizlet.com/group/44223/

The sets are aimed at the beginner.  My son is just six and he starting.  I keep it to 10 simple words per set, about six new and four words review.  I generate little tests for him after he's mastered the list.
