I was born in South Louisiana, moved to Tennessee at the age of 13. Louisiana will ALWAYS be my home. My MawMaw and Great Aunt Aline were raised speaking Cajun French. They are the only 2 out if my family of 50+ that can speak the language. My aunt passed away almost a year ago and I hate that I didn't learn before she left us. I would like to be able to have a simple conversation with my MawMaw before her time is up. I know she would like to see one of us keep the language, as well as her quilting, in the family. I've got the quilting down...now for the Cajun French!
Thanks,
Sarsh

I have lived in Louisiana all my life and would love to speak Cajun French. Nothing I love more than listening to the old timers talking in french

I am from Lafayette Louisiana and would love to learn wish they did have classes.  The sad part is my grand parents spoke Cajun French but did not teach my mother or mothers sister saying that was not excepted now it's a die language wish she would of thought different

This one was set up three years ago and could be used for practicing one's Louisiana French skills:

Any recommendations for learning?  I have been using some SF resources (Duolingo, Berlitz) and trying to supplement as much LF in as I can.  http://cajunlanguage.net/ is a good blog, but hasn't been updated in a long time.

When I started getting serious about this 20 years ago, I started with Pimsleur.  That formed the base for conversational French.  Then I started collecting as many Louisiana French texts as possible and maintaining regular contact.  I've tried to document some of that contact on my web site.  Jim Leger's blog is still good even if it hasn't been updated.  His recordings are invaluable as well.
