According to one wiki (on twistedmetal.fandom.com): "Only 100 copies were ever printed, and they were subsequently given out as prizes for a contest held by Sony's Tips & Tricks magazine around the time of Twisted Metal 2's release".

Apparently, the competition was quite difficult and only around a half of the comics were won. Anecdotally, at least one comic fan wrote to Sony's Tips & Tricks department and was given a free copy of the comic. What happened to the balance of comics is unknown (could have been trashed, given to employees or hiding in an office cupboard somewhere).

The comic itself was written by Jamie Delano and pencilled by Phil Hester (inked by Peter Gross & colored by Rick Taylor) with cover art by Duncan Fegredo. The story focusses on the origin of Calypso and his torment after accidently killing his younger sister, which ultimately leads him into murder and mayhem.

The number of CGC recorded gradings for these was only four in mid-March 2020 (two grading 9.6, one in 9.4 and one in 9.0. The CGC Label text notes read: "1st comic book appearance & origin of Calypso. Based on the video game by Sony Entertainment & SingleTrac.".
