darthmango So short story long, he bought an already modded New 3DS XL. He factory reset it to re-mod it, and this brought up one problem. When he pressed the power button it would flash the blue light for a second then turn off. We fixed this by formatting the sd card to Fat32 and putting

@ajburke OK, couple problems here. First, there's only one trusted guide for 3ds hacking, which is 3ds.hacks.guide. Second, factory resetting it doesn't delete b9s, so he can't "re-mod" it. Why was he trying to do that in the first place?

If you hold START then power on does it boot into GodMode9? Alternatively if you hold SELECT then power on does it boot into Luma3ds? What sector size on the sd card? Have you tried a different sd card? I read that Anton Retro's guide. Not very streamlined. Try searching "What would happen if you format your modded 3ds", guys handle is sthetix, that guys guides are pretty fluid and direct. Didn't link to him because I'm not sure if such things violate ifixit terms.

Some things to check are confirmation that it's modded correctly. Hence, check if you are able to get into godmode9 and or luma. If not...that might give a clue as to what went wrong. Check sector size on sd card. I would consider those things to be part of basic troubleshooting on a modded 3ds misbehaving. Basic troubleshooting yeah? So no I didn't miss the point, I gave basic troubleshooting advice.

Welcome to BruteForceMovable! This service is supported by the people who run the bruteforce script! You should be following 3ds.hacks.guide to use this service. You may find it harder to get help if you aren't using this guide! To use this service, type your Friend Code and your id0 in the box below.

If you are sure your id0 was correct, you will need to format your console from System Settings > Other Settings > System Format in order to use *miner methods. Once your system is formatted, you should begin the whole process again.Formatting your system will remove all of your user data, including installed digital games, saves, NNID details, themes and other non-system files. Once you log back into your NNID, you will be able to redownload any purchases you have made, including games and themes. You can NOT recover your digital game saves unless you have an existing homebrew entry point. If you do not know what this is, you do not have one.

Checkpoint is a 3DS homebrew application that can backup and restore save files for 3DS cartridges, 3DS eShop titles (including GB and GBC virtual console), and NDS cartridges. This tutorial will walk you through its installation and usage.

If your CFW is Luma 3DS, then Rosalina makes it possible to use the Homebrew Launcher as an alternative to the CIA version. You cannot use Checkpoint with the Homebrew Launcher without Rosalina's Homebrew Launcher.

Once you have installed Checkpoint, these steps will guide you through backing up and restoring save files. Once complete, any saves you back up will be located in /3ds/Checkpoint/saves on your 3DS's SD card.

1. (If you're backing up a cartridge save and not an eShop title) Insert your cartridge, and make sure the 3DS menu can see it. This is important because sometimes the system can't read the cartridge unless it's inserted just right.

4. Use the DPad to select the save slot you wish to use (the selected slot has a blue background). If backing up the save, you can select "New..." to create a new slot. Be careful not to overwrite anything important.

Thanks, for the post I actually figured this all out by myseld last night and now trying to figure out how to exactly inject the PKhex files, as well as poke edit (the website) files. Wondering if I can inject pokemon into 4th Gen specifically Pearl and Platinum, specifically Poke Edit's files as they are older, aslo they have download of what seems to be the entire game. Idk need to look into it more. Also XY and ORAS I have all 4 and and under the impression you cannot attach items in XY? or you can it just doesn't look 100% legit but nobody would know if your just doing this for you self and maybe trade later? I wish Black and white and even the DS gen 4 games could link, the original games can link via the cored why shouldn't they beable to via wirless, should be an easy update to wireless component you would think.

I guess just figure out thwere exactaly to put the files, because I can't imagine just dropping them in the dave and they are their? Or how to edit a pokemon already in your save? Not to worried about that but the knowledge can't hurt. Off to research, amd find a file with every event pokemon.

If anyone has tips or methods not involving QR codes message me or reply. My 2ds that has all CFW drom the offficial guide has no rear camereas, I fixed it, bought it broke on ebay. Sadly the day I went to hack one of my newer consoles they updated that day to 11.7 and 11.8 no time for seedminer at the second. Plus seems to be a long process ect. Non the less good post for people who were in my position last night, I for some reason was under the impression I could find the files if I just saved the game (im sure you could) and use check point but I was wrong and this is much easier to find them and back files up, especially for gen 4 games that the battery is about to go on. Big thatks to JK for making this possible and the creator or Checkpoint whom I don't know off the top of my head sorry

Sorry, yeah some thing wiht checkpoint folder, but for both versions you need to have already dumped a save, then just replace that save.

(make sure you keep the dumped save safe on your computer, in case you need to revert or the import is corrupted)

Hey I am new to the modding area and I've recently downloaded a cfw to my 3ds. I used a .gba that was converted to a .cia file then loaded into my 3ds through fbi. The problem is that checkpoint (save manager) isn't recognizing the game, I've refreshed it and went into the game to save, still nothing. Was wondering if I could get some help on my situation.

The issue aren't VC injects. GBA saves aren't supported by Checkpoint yet. There's still an open feature request on their Github (here).

You can use GodMode9 to dump/restore GBA VC saves -usage.html#backup-gba-vc-saves

Hello, is it normal that my checkpoint backup file is named POKEMON W.sav instead of "main" ?

I'm using a physical copy, I Also would like to know if there is any risk with my physical game and if my original backup is still avalaible

EDIT: I can use pokehex on save, i havn't injected the save yet I don't know if it may cause problem to my game

* Except in the case that it is a VC save (or it's pretending to be a VC save).

PKHeX identifies a VC save via its save name sav.dat, and has it's legality checking tweaked for VC.

Any other save can be any other save name

Virtual Console. Virtual Console games are a bunch of older games for older consoles re-released to be playable on the 3DS.

(Game Boy games, Game Boy Advance games, N64 games, etc)

In the context of our forums, when we refer to VC saves, we normally mean Gen 1 or Gen 2 Pokmon games.

Yes, the 3DS can play Pokmon Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Gold, Silver, Crystal.

And an additional tidbit: the mons can be transferred up to Generation 7 and up.

The saves of those games are have the same data structures as their retail counterpart, hence why PKHeX needs to check the save name to ensure it has the correct legality checks.

I have a physical copy of Alpha Sapphire, and then I have an installed CIA of it as well. I have the physical game's save backed up. Is there any way to have the installed 'version' load the same save file (so I don't have to have the physical copy in)? I can't find any videos about it, and checkpoint doesn't seem to have that functionality.

First of all, make sure you have installed Custom Firmware in your 3DS by following this guide.

Then, visit the GameBanana Page to download the mod and check the Installation PDF for the instructions.

Alternatively, you can use the following installation tutorial video.

If you need help installing Custom Firmware visit The Homebrew Community and if you need help with CTGP-7 visit the CTGP-7 Discord Server

You can install the mod directly from the 3DS if you already have Custom Firmware. Check Method 2 on the Installation PDF to learn how. Keep in mind that this method can take up to 2 hours to install.

Yes, you need a copy of Mario Kart 7 and the v1.2 update patch for both playing on Citra Emulator and on a 3DS.

We do not support piracy, you may be denied support if you ask for help with pirating 3DS games in our Discord or any other Homebrew communities.

The eshop has closed, however if you've bought Mario Kart 7 in the past on the eshop you will be able to redownload Mario Kart 7, The ability to redownload has not been shutdown by Nintendo. Otherwise you will need a copy of Mario Kart 7 on a cartridge, used cartridges can be bought online or in local stores.

To obtain the v1.2 update you simply need to have your 3DS connected to the Internet, open Mario Kart 7 and you should be prompted to update, if you do not recieve this visit the eshop and search for "Mario Kart 7 Update" and download from here.

We do not support piracy and you can be denied assistance if you choose to pirate software. Does CTGP-7 work on Citra emulator? Yes! You can dump your cartridge or digital game as well as the update data and install them to Citra as a .cia file. Finally, install the CTGP-7 installer .cia file (using File -> Install cia).

CTGP-7 Supports USA, European, Japanese and Korean copies of Mario Kart 7 and the v1.2 update that matches your region of choice, There is currently no support for Chinese/Tawianese copies of Mario Kart 7.

This is a bug with Mario Kart 7 games running from cartridge on Old 3DS models. The only known workaround for this issue is to install the cartridge as a cia to the SD. Check this guide to learn how to do so.
