I have been watching the Star Trek: The Next Generation on Paramount Plus. Today the language changed from English to German. I had watched an episode earlier today and all was well. After starting an episode this afternoon the language had changed from English to German. I checked episodes I had already viewed and the language is also now in German. I had Star Trek Original Series in the Continue Viewing area so I started a playback. It too is now in German. I checked different Star Trek series and found them in English so I wonder if it is related to the Continue Viewing area. I checked the language setting and found English selected. I rebooted the Roku device and my TV. No change. I unplugged the device and left it unplugged for over an hour. When I plugged it back in there was no change. We have a second Roku device connected to a different TV. The Star Trek programs all come up in English. They weren't in Continue Viewing. The devices are identical except there is only a 3-4 month age difference between the two. I found a similar problem with Doc Martin coming up in Spanish but it seems to be more wide spread. It was posted in this forum 08-28-2021 and was titled "doc martin language changed". One proposed solution was to highlight Paramount Plus and update it. I followed the instructions but there was no change. BTW i can view the Star Trek episodes just fine on my iPad with the Paramount Plus app.
Its not a permanent fix but this happened to me today also. If you are using roku while watching star trek press the star or option button next to the play button on your roku. Go to accessibility then audio track change to English. You will have to do this for everytime an episode starts. This has got to be a paramount issue specific to star trek. When i watch anything else it's in english!
Thanks for the suggestion LesFreshFish. I'm not sure it's Paramount related since we have a second, identical, Roku device and all is well on it. I did originally verify the preferred language was set to English in the overall settings and also when I checked to see if there was a setting problem for Star Trek it showed only the default track was available. After reading your suggestion I waited until the episode actually started playing before checking the language setting in Accessibility for the episode. Sure enough it was set to German. I changed to English and voila I am back to normal. Thanks for the information. The problem now has a Band-Aid I can live with.
I am having the same issue with Star Trek TNG. It is playing with German audio. The first thing I did was press * to change the language, but the only option was default audio track. After exiting and restarting, it then gave me the option to change audio back to English. It still must be changed each time an episode is started. It's an annoying work around, not a solution. I don't have any new ideas, but I'm glad I didn't waste my time trying any other fixes before checking here. Hopefully someone will come up with an actual solution.
One of the first equestrian competitions ever held that can most easily be recognized as eventing was the Championnat du Cheval d'Armes held in France in 1902, 10 years before eventing would first appear at the Olympic Games. At the 1912 Games in Stockholm, the eventing competition was held over five days, with endurance on the first day, steeplechase on day three following a day of rest, followed by show jumping on day four and concluding with dressage on day five.
The FEI system as it currently stands denotes international competition with one of two designations: Concours Complet International (CCI) and Concours International Combin (CIC). Before the removal of phases A, B, and C from endurance day, CCI indicated competitions with the full endurance day while CICs were internationally-recognized horse trials, which only ran phase D. When phases A, B, and C were permanently removed from all competition, the FEI changed the distances of CCI cross-country courses to be longer and contain more obstacles than CICs. Though much less common, the designations of Concours Complet National (CCN) and Concours National Combin (CNC) are used to indicate national level three-day events held under the FEI Rules for Eventing but not using the FEI General Rules or Veterinary Regulations.
At the 2016 FEI General Assembly, the FEI voted in favor of several proposed format changes for the Olympic Games that would make it both easier for more countries to participate and easier for spectators to understand. Those changes include limiting nations to teams of three with no drop score and changing the level of competition to (current) four-star dressage and show jumping with a 10-minute, 45-effort cross-country course at the (current) three-star level of difficulty.
While the 2017 FEI General Assembly proposed the rule change that would implement the new five-star system, there were still plenty of details to iron out. The FEI elected to not put the new star system into place until 2019, giving them 2018 to refine the language of the new system. However, the new international Introductory level, which will become the new CCI* level and is roughly equivalent to the Modified level, was introduced in 2018.
Over the course of 2018, the FEI has continued to refine the new system proposed in 2017, primarily focusing on fine-tuning updates to relevant language in the rulebook and deciding on the additional requirements for the five-star level.
The new Introductory level that was introduced in 2018 and will become the new one-star level in 2019 can be organized as short or long format regarding the order of the phases and horse inspections and is not compulsory for qualifications at the two-star level and above. Two USEA recognized events are planning to offer this new one-star level in 2019: the Maryland Horse Trials and the Virginia Horse Trials.
In 2017, US Equestrian (USEF) approved a recommendation to award a new CCI4* event to Fair Hill. After the FEI announced the changes to the star system in November of 2017, Fair Hill made the decision to wait until the new specifications were finalized before moving forward with improvements to the facility. Fair Hill, working in partnership with the State of Maryland, plans to host their inaugural five-star competition in 2020.
The final details of the new FEI five-star system, along with all other proposed FEI rules changes for the 2019 competition year, will be discussed and put to a final vote on at the 2018 FEI General Assembly in Manama, Bahrain on November 16-20, 2018. The approved rule changes will become effective on January 1, 2019.
After focusing on flatwork during the first day of the USEA Emerging Athlete U21 (EA21) East Coast I Regional Clinic at Morven Park, the 12 hand-selected riders and coach Shannon Lilley headed to the spacious outdoor ring early this morning to put some of their skills to the test over fences.
I live in Taiwan and whenever I try to buy something on ebay the language is automatically changed to traditional Chinese. My ability in reading Chinese is nowhere near good enough to understand what the web pages in it say. I have searched around the site and have not managed to find out how to change the language. Given that all the other global companies and a lot of smaller national companies here in Taiwan allow the language to be changed, it would be quite strange of ebay to not allow people to change the language because English is the language the world trades in.
I also wish to find it, I avoid using ebay because it translates the listings and the titles literally and that **bleep** completely changes the meaning of the words in Portuguese. For example if I want to find a steam key. A good translation would be chave (key) steam (as it is we don't translate names ) the results I get for steam keys are vapor chaves. Steam literally means vapor, but obviously it should not apply here. This is just one example but any text directly translated from a language to another is really bad.
Pay attention the the website that you are being sent to when your browser sends you to eBay. The ebay cookie in my browser (Google Chrome) sends me to is www.ebay.es My page is entirely in Spanish. If I go to www.ebay.com my page is entirely in English. If the cookie in your browser is sending you to the wrong site, then delete your ebay cookies. Then navigate to and login to the site that you wish (according to your desired language) manually. A new cookie will be created in your browser.
I searched the entire website to change the language to english, didn't find the option. I live in Switzerland and my german is good enough, but there's a lot of specific words I don't always understand and it's annoying having to translate every other sentence/word. But here's the SOLUTION people!!! I switched from .CH to .COM and that's it!! ebay.com is the english version wherever you are located.
I have a similar problem. I am American but live in Switzerland and my ebay is in German, but I am not fluent in German so that makes it very difficult to use the site. I cannot seem to find anywhere to change the settings to English, and of course the fact that everything is in German doesn't help (I don't even know where to click if I can!).
Same-ish issue here. Despite using .com website, eBay started changing labels to local language. And there is zero way that I know of to disable this. No, it's not chrome auto-translate. It's as if those in charge have never heard of people speaking multiple languages. Also only parts of the site get translated, to the point that the search category dropdown is in one language, but the category list on the left is in another. It's a complete mess without any option for the end-user to fix it.
It's infuriating, to the point I abandoned the search I was going on.
