In contrast to KeePassXC (package keepassxc), the development pace of KeePassX has slowed down. It has less features, and uses an outdated version of the Qt widget. If you do not know whether you should install keepassx or keepassxc, install keepassx instead!

Is there a big difference between both? I installed Keypass 2 wihtout knowing there was a sepecific version for Linux (KeepassX). I heard that Keepass2 installs a lot of extras under the hood and that Kepassx might be a "lighter" version. Any advantages/disadvatnages of using one vs the other in linux?

On a multi-user system, it may be easier to get keepass2 or mono-complete (from the Ubuntu repository) than the current KeePassPRC.plgx. The user should be able to do that by themself, just like installing Kee from the Firefox extensions repository.

If anyone encounters this problem, the way to fix it is:
- uninstall KeePass2 via software manager in your Linux
- go to this page and scroll down to Contributed/Unofficial KeePass Packages where Linux packages are listed.
- then, follow the link (for ubuntu based distros: )
- manually add repository and install latest keepass from command line

There is a keepass2 (and keepassx) converter in the converter suite to help you convert your Keepass2 XML export into a format importable by 1Password. It does require a desktop version of 1Password.

I'm not sure if this will directly help, since I've implement the server with apache on linux instead of IIS on windows. But I've made the keepass client work via DAV from Windows, Android, and Linux to that server, so I thought I would share what worked for me.

I found the keepass client to be very picky about Basic vs Digest Auth. I ended up having the server provide both on different url prefixes. I found the windows client worked with Basic auth, but the Linux client worked with Digest instead.

Hi Amado. I did not test keepass2, so I can't answer your request directly. My advice is to install both in your box and test each one separately for a while, and decide which one fits your needs and you feel more comfortable with.

I could export the Database to csv and re-import it, but this forces me to create a new db which i try to avoid. Is there maybe another way? If not, can somebody write a line of code which runs preferrably in windows (if not, linux is also possible) to fix this in the csv?
