When setting up a new CentOS 7 server, you may find yourself looking for control panel software that will allow you to manage your websites and web applications in a graphical user interface. One of the most popular web hosting control panel solutions is cPanel/WHM. This software gives you a comprehensive control panel interface that allows you to manage and customize many different aspects of your server in a user-friendly environment. In this article, we will outline how to prepare your CentOS 7 server and install cPanel/WHM using the command-line interface. Before performing the steps in this guide, please ensure that you have set up root SSH access on your server.

I was trying to figure this stuff out because it seems the client has a WP instance on an EC2 - and rather than fighting with it I was thinking if i could just hire someone to install cPanel on the instance then all my problems are solved. My question is - is this possible (basically a GUI for all the files/databases)?

I have no idea hwere to go from here - whether to launch it or to connect to it. But I was just going to put a job up for someone to just install cPanel on it and I was wondering if that's possible?

Well, At last I have got cPanel installed and run successfully, thanks to Jason McDonald. Here are the steps if someone may need. Assuming you have LAMP installed and running (You may refer Complete Steps to installed LAMP on VM!)

cPanel is not free. It is a commercial application which requires a monthly license to operate. You can install cPanel with a trial license, but you will need to purchase a license from ServerMania or another official cPanel distributor in order to use the software We discuss pricing below.

Finally, once installed to our server, what would the URL look like? Assume our domain was example.com, we would either want it to appear at or at Is that possible, or does a port number need to be specified?

PS - This was on CentOS 7 on a test machine. I plan to do a server upgrade (for unrelated reasons) before deploying in production, so will hopefully avoid having to install it on CentOS 5, but my gut feeling (based on going through the install process) is that it should work fine.

For the past few years, I have always worked my way up when it comes to setting up a web server instance. The trouble that comes with installing the LAMP stack, migrating your existing website to a new host among others is terrible.

Before installing cPanel, you'll need to access your instance and make sure it meets the requirements specified in the section above. If you don't follow the instructions below properly, you're most likely to run into trouble.

If you don't have an instance deployed on your server, go to this article how to deploy an instance on alibaba cloud.Otherwise, in this guide i will use my freshly setup CentOS 7 server to demonstrate how to install cPanel.

The single line of command above will change the current working directory to /home, then downloads the latest version from cPanel and execute the installation script as well. Enter Y to continue installation.

We recommend against installing an FTP server on your Linode, as FTP is an outdated and insecure protocol. Instead, we recommend using SFTP to upload and download files. However, you may install an FTP server if you wish. SFTP is available by default for any main cPanel username. If you need to add file access for multiple users, you may want to install Pure-FTPd during the configuration phase.

Cpanel is a kind of control panel that allows website owners to manage their web hosting server operations and Linux-based hosts. Web hosting providers present this powerful control panel to configure their services, including Database, File manager, email account creation and management, dynamic information backup, Subdomains creation, WordPress installation in one place.

It is not an obligation for website administrators or full-on tech teams to design a website for their business. All the tools are available in the control panel of your browser; however, how to install Cpanel on centos 8 is essential to admins for cPanel in the right way.

Note: if you use SSH protocol to connect your server, it is recommended to run the cPanel auto installer script in screen mode that creates a shell session that is consistently active during a network disruption.

Knowing how to install cPanel on Centos is one of the most important tasks to optimize your website.cPanel is a commonly known control panel for web hosting and the best and intuitive commercial control panel for web hosting services. We offer bothcPanel VPS and CenOS servers for beginners and advanced users.

NOTE! Starting from cPanel version 11.60 you are able to use the installed certificates to log into the cPanel/WHM as well as webmail, ftp and webdisk. The certificate installed for a domain gets assigned to these services automatically, no separate actions are required.

If your server has firewalld service up and running, it may cause trouble for the installer as the installer opens required ports at the time of the installation process. We highly suggest, deactivate the firewall using following commands,

5. Installation will take up to 30 minutes to 60 minutes, depending on the server resources. Once the installation is done, you mostly see a message like Congratulations! Your installation of cPanel & WHM 11.100 is now complete. The next step is to configure your server. Now, login to the Web Host Manager (WHM) panel using -domain.com:2087 or -address: 2087 or -hostname: 2087 for further configuration of the cPanel/WHM server.

In fact, you will need to use cPanel to install the CMS of your choice on your VPS. Just keep in mind, you will not have access to Softaculous, which means just about everything you add, will need to be done manually.

We have an existing tutorial on how to install cPanel/WHM on CentOS 6. If your CentOS version is newer you can still follow the listed steps in the tutorial as the process is not different from installing it on CentOS 6, the same rules apply to CentOS 7. You can check the tutorial here: -to-install-cpanel-on-a-virtual-server-running-centos-6

1. Ensure that your server has a standard hostname (FQDN or Fully Qualified Domain Name), otherwise set it as follows (in this example, cpanel is the hostname and tecmint.lan is the domain name):

5. Now, run the auto installer script. Note that if you have logged in the server using SSH, we strongly recommend running cPanel auto installer script in screen mode, because it takes 40-60 mins to complete the installation depending on your server resources and Internet connection speeds.

Just upload the file to your wwwroot or subdirectory, use the wizard in cpanel to setup a new mysql database (taking note of the details) & then just go to the web address and go through the moodle install wizard to set up your config.php.

The best operating system to install cPanel is to use CentOS 7 and CloudLinux. While this is the best recommendation, some might have a question as "can I install cPanel on CentOS 8?" We added an experimental version of cPanel & WHM version 92 that has minimal functionality in CentOS 8 and CloudLinux 8 servers. cPanel & WHM version 92 for CentOS 8 and CloudLinux 8 is experimental software and is not recommended for production environments. For more information, read our cPanel & WHM for CentOS 8 documentation.

We recommend that you run the installation command within a Linux screen session. The Linux screen command allows you to create a shell session that will stay active even if there is a network disruption.

You must log in to the server as the root user in order to install cPanel & WHM. If you do not possess root-level access, contact your system administrator or hosting provider for assistance.

We recommend that you use the cPanel & WHM installer, which installs all of the services that it requires. If you install services before you install cPanel & WHM, you will encounter compatibility issues.

Click on Setup a SSL certificate to work with your site. If this option is not available, your web host may have disabled it. You will need to contact them about how to install the Intermediate certificate.

Click Install Certificate. Your SSL certificate should now be installed, and the website configured to accept secure connections. You or your web host may need to restart Apache before it will work.

Open a web browser and visit your site using https. It is best to test with both Internet Explorer as well as Firefox, because Firefox will give you a warning if your intermediate certificate is not installed. You should not receive any browser warnings or errors.

If the Intermediate certificate was not correctly installed using the above instructions you may need to install it directly in Apache. If you do not have access to the Apache configuration files you will need to have your web host or administrator follow these instructions to install the Intermediate certificate:

Note: Before starting the installation make sure ionCube Loaders are enabled. You may refer to the following guide Enable_Ioncube_cPanel. Please make sure that the Ioncube loader is selected for the backend copy of PHP. Now SSH to your server and enter following commands:

If the server is already online, cPanel can be activated and installed automatically (along with an OS) via the cPanel tab of the server on Robot. Once you have restarted the server, the installation will be automatically performed. You will get an email with the login details of both the OS and cPanel once the installation is complete.
