Government order constituting convergence committees for addressing land rights issues of the poor

Dear Friends,

We are happy to share that after almost three years of consistent efforts and advocacy, we finally managed to get a government order (Go No. 69) from Revenue Department reconstituting convergence committees at district and state level and comprehensive guidelines for their functioning. We have contributed to the framing of guidelines and most of them are incorporated.

However, this is only the first step. More important and difficult processes are ensuring proper representation from NGOs and proper functioning of the committees, which we hope to follow up in the next two years. And of course, the bigger challenge would be to make this GO applicable to upcoming two states(Andhra and Telengana) !
