Dear all,

We are looking for information on cities in Asia which have developed climate change action plans, either on mitigation and/or adaptation. If you know of such action plans plase send us either: (i) the full document, (ii) the on-line link where we can find the document, or (iii) contact persons who give further information.

Please send the information to meat cornie....@cai-asia.org with copy to alvin...@cai-asia.org.

Once we have an overview we wil share this with the Listserv. We are interested to find  out (i) how many cities have such plans or are working on them, and (ii) whether such action plans adopt a co-benefit approach, i.e. integrate air quality or other developmental objectives as co-benefits of the climate action proposed.

Thanks in advance!

Look at this!

City Alliance is working with a network of local governments which has created a blog with the following link:

http://citydevelopmentblog.wordpress.com/

I personally remain skeptical. If a city has a climate action plan, show me what it will do and show me the change in emissions because of the plan. Believe me, we need their help.

Seoul, South Korea is doing a lot to reduce air pollution emissions (see http://www.c40cities.org/bestpractices/transport/seoul_driving.jsp ). Last summer I participated the Metropolis ( http://www.metropolis.org ) Commission Meeting on Transportation and Air Quality in Seoul ( http://www.stadtentwicklung.berlin.de/internationales_eu/staedte_regionen/download/program_metropolis_mobility_week.pdf ), which discussed various transportation environmental improvement strategies being implemented there.

They are also participating in the Clinton Climate Change Intiative ( http://www.clintonfoundation.org/051607-nr-cf-pr-cci-president-clinton-announces-landmark-program-to-reduce-energy-use-in-buildings-worldwide.htm ) and the Connected Urban Development ( http://www.connectedurbandevelopment.org ) programs, which work to reduce climate change emissions.

I'm not sure if there is a specific climate change emission reduction plan, but they are certainly doing good work.

Best wishes,
-Todd Litman
