Image processing time scaling

On a GPU it takes ~0.2s to process a 250x250 (i.e. 62500 pixels) images. How does it scale to, e.g. 1280x720 (921600)? I don't think so because instead of taking 2.5s it takes just under 1s to do it on the same GPU. What's the trick (I'm talking only of forwarding the image, no derivatives/weights update)?
