Mean file of train and test

Hello

From the Cifar10 example i see, train_test.prototxt DataLayer -  train datalayer and test datalayer is pointing to the same mean file

Is this corrrect?

Is mean file computed with train_lmdb or test_lmdb?
What is a mean file? I read that mean file is just the mean value of the images, but i am not very clear.
