Input Data Normalization

Hi, 

I'm trying to compare Caffe to a few other platforms for a specific use. In the original architecture I use data normalization so that each image will have an average of 0, and std 1. I can see that in Caffe I can use the mean_file, which is equivalent to zero average. But is there a way to make the data have a std =1? 

Is there any good documentation of the way Caffe uses the mean_file?

Are there any other methods to normalize the input data, other than setting a mean value per channel?
