Apply .Caffemodel to classify objects using OpenCV

Hey guys.. 

Is it possible to use .caffemodel and using openCV to detect certain object... 

I was thinking something like the  cascade function in openCV in which you provide it a an cascade classifier, which then is used to detect object from an Mat variable. 

The .caffemodel which i have at the moment, is the one created by the example set mnist, which should be capable of detecting digits, need to test it, hence my question.
