GLOG_logtostderr=0 has no effect for matcaffe

to Caffe Users

I can successfully disable log going to stderr by running

env GLOG_logtostderr=0 caffe ...

However, this does not seem possible for matcaffe, which means – in my case for octave

env GLOG_logtostderr=0 octave ...

sends all logging still to stderr. What can I do?
