Can I use SegNet if I have more than 256 classes?

Hello. As SegNet requires training images with corresponding image labels which must be single channel with each pixel labeled with its class, I wonder if I can use it if I want to segment more than 256 classes?

For >255 classes you have to store the label in the right data type (more than uint8), but that's all.
