Hi everyone!

I have a question about auto-propagation.

Let's say you've activated the propagation options ("Translation --
Options -- Auto-propagation to other segments / Auto-propagation to
current segment") and a segment has been propagated to other segments
(100% match). If you change the translation of one of the propagated
segments, does the change affect all of those propagated segments or
only that one?

The reason why I'm asking is that I used OmegaT before I bought
Cafetran. In OmegaT, if you change one propagated segment, that change
will again be propagated to all the identical segments. If you don't
want the program to do that, you must select an option to enter an
"alternative translation" (or turn off auto-propagation altogether). So
what's the behaviour of Cafetran? Is it similar, or can you change a
segment that has been propagated without changing all other identical
segments?

TIA for your answer!
Martin

Hi Martin,

CafeTran has the following auto-propagation functions:

1. Auto-propagation to all other identical segments in the project (from
the current edited segment)
2. Auto-propagation from another identical segment to the current edited
segment (auto-inserting it in the current segment)

They can be both switched on/off in the Translation > Options sub-menu.

I hope it is clear now.

Cheers,
Igor

So auto-propagation doesn't affect segments that have already been
translated. That's great!

Thanks, Igor!

Yes, but only if you deselect the first Option (Translation > Options >
Auto-propagation to other segments)
