How to align .srt subtitle files?

Anyone here know how to align .srt subtitle files?

I realised that you can easily download the TED talks subtitles in various languages and was thinking about creating a TMX out of the subtitles for my language pair.

I don't know, but you may have a look at Jubler ("free" and open source, cross-platform): http://www.jubler.org

It's a subtitle editor with a translation functionality. Whether you can use it to align .srt files, you'll have to find out yourself.

‘File > Export > Plain Text’ in Subtitle Edit did the trick.

For those of you who are interested, here is a workflow that, well, works:

1. Download source/target subtitles (.srt files) from TED talk videos: http://tedtalksubtitledownload.appspot.com/ (free)

2. Use Subtitle Edit (free) to export the .srt files to .txt files without timecodes, via: File > Export > Plain Text: http://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit

3. Align source/target text files and export them as TMX using LF Aligner (free): http://sourceforge.net/projects/aligner/
