Hi you,
For a few months now my daughters are obsessed with the moon's ability to follow you as you move around. Poor moon, one of them will say, following us to our home, because she doesn't have one herself. Go find a home! Shouts the other one as she moves around, to promptly say, look, it's just following me! It isn't even following you!
Now, you might live under the false impression that the Mezrab is like the moon, it's proximity an optical illusion. It's not true! In fact, here's a little secret. Everything it programmes it does for you (yes, that's the singular you, the person reading this e-mail right now). So when you look at the Mezrab and think, oh, that's exactly what I needed, the only conclusion you can come to is the right one: we knew and decided to give it to you! Be it a warm refuge in a cold world, a beat to move your hips to, a poetic phrase that traces a line across your heart, clearly planned for that particular moment of your day. And if you ever come across something that's not to your taste, even then we are providing you with the opportunity to expand your horizon, something your deeper self actually desires. And who's to say you actually live in the way you are supposed to?
So you (singular). Dish in:
Tuesday (Tomorrow) / Samizdat storytelling night. We let the personal meet the political. Yalla come. Free entrance.
Thursday / The hoppa hoppa of the
Amsterdam Klezmer Band meets the raw sound of the
Antwerp Gypsy Ska Orchestra. I've long been a fan of both bands (and had the pleasure to share the stage with both! Here's
info and ticket links!
Alt Comedy Night (Saturday) / The night in which we put the weird in comedy. The only night in town that dives into all forms of laughter you don't find on other comedy stages. Only for the brave, which we know you (singular) are!
Tickets!
On
Sunday we have another edition of our
social dance event. On this day no one dances together but apart, like what happens in so many clubs. The dances (old European ones from different cultures) are taught and experienced together.
Give it a try!
Then coming Monday (Dec 22) we have a comedy open mic. The one night in which you don't pay for comedy, because your love and support for new comedians (or old ones bringing new material) is all the currency we need! Doors 19.00, comedy at 20.00.
Finally here's your reminder to
buy tickets for the
New Years Eve Party we are throwing!
Of course there's much more, but you know the way to the calendar on the Mezrab site:

Love,
Sahand & Team
PS, for no particular reason I feel like sharing a song by
Gavin Mee with you. The kind soul who used to play in the Amsterdam scene (including the Mezrab), before he moved along and passed away too soon.
