Hi everyone,
Two ago I was rolling in the mud, my leg being scratched, my glasses bent and my clothes losing buttons. I also enjoyed it, as I realized being a father and a working man I spent far too little time engaging in such activities. What I was doing was Theater; we were trying out our new show My Brother's Keeper with my friend and collaborative partner Raphael. I am wondering how many people know that coming to a storytelling event can lead you to sign up for an open mic or a course, and then a few years down the line you are living your dream life (in the mud). But here we are, no turning back:
Tomorrow (Tuesday) / Samizdat / The storytelling night in which the personal is the political and the political is the personal. Come join, it's free!
Thursday / Concert Nano Stern / Oh, we are casually hosting one of the most amazing Latin American singer/songwriters, who plays stadiums in Chile. You get to hear him in the intimate setting of the Mez. Invite all your friends to
listen to this and buy tickDets.
Saturday / Alt Comedy Night / Things go absurd here, with all the comedy that doesn't fit regular comedy nights: post-modern clowns, character sketches, physical humor. Etc.
You'll love it.
Sunday / Balholk Social / We dance on live music with steps that have been passed down by the elders. Don't just dance next to each other, but actually
together!
Monday (June 22) / Comedy Open Mic / Because comedians need a place to start and you are a lovely audience.
Tuesday (June 23) / Pearls on a String / The season closer of our night mixing improv theater with storytelling and music. This will be a blast.
Obviously there's more, just go to
mezrab.nl for the full details!
Hugs,
Sahand & Team
PS, curious about the show I am making with Raffa, we have an outdoor premiere in the
Amsterdamse Bostheater. July 25/26. Grab your tickets
here.
PPS, Our school, which gives short courses also has a
professional six month course which is now closing for submissions. If you were on the fence, send in your application now, or forever hold your peace. Go to
www.mezrabstorytellingschool.nl . Also for short courses.
PPPS, I also have the honor to be the giver of the
Anton de Kom speech this year. On
June 25 I will make the case that we need to have hope and let go of hope. And that resistance is fighting. But also not fighting. I know, I still have to work out the argument, but I have a few more days to do so. (This will be in
Dutch, and ends in time for you to party in the Mez).
