Hey everyone,

This season carries a strange melancholy for me. I love the endless days, a sun that never seems to set. At the same time, the summer days carry inside them the inevitability of ending, in just a short time, just as summer starts, the days will start to get shorter again. Imperceptible at first, but with a cruel certainty. It is the opposite of the winter equinox, when days are dark, wet and cold, but we celebrate the hope of the return of the light.

It is no wonder that cultures that observe the passing of the seasons have a view of the world in which dark and light are intertwined.

All this is to say that June has started, which is the last month we programme fully before the summer lull. It also means that many events you get to experience for the last time, before they might start again in September. And that, gentle reader, is a great way to look at every programme I present to you here. Grab them as if it's the last time you might experience it. Who knows what will happen after. So I don't just want you to carpe the diem, but also memento the mori

So, here goes:

Tomorrow (Tuesday) there is the last Mythos of the season. Getting together to celebrate the ancient tales of myth and folk. I will do the hosting. The theme will be night and day

Thursday we will welcome the Godfather of Lebanese underground music. Zeid Hamdan! If you don't know him, this is the moment to remedy that. If you do know him, this might be the last time you get to see him. Not because he's old, but duh, did you read the intro? Here's tracks to listen and tickets to buy. Tell all your friends

On Saturday we have another Mezrab classical comedy night! Go here and grab a seat for the funny.

Then from next week we have:
- Mon Jun 8 / Persian language storytelling night
- Tue Jun 9 / Off the Page / The theatrical storytelling night hosted by Fer Rodil
- Thr Jun 11 / Amsterdam Klezmer Band club night and album release! Look!
- Sat Jun 13 / Rebetiko against the Machine. Our best Mastiha-fueled night right here.
- Thr Jun 18 / The Chilean super star Nano Stern!

That's it. There's more of course, but I try to make a selection for you. The rest of the events you can find on mezrab.nl

PS, also the school is winding down with just two more intro courses for storytelling. Get in on the action: www.mezrabstorytellingschool.nl
