Hi Everyone,

Today I took the family on a trip to the North of Amsterdam on a "Bakfiets". It's such a treat to see the city like this: In one hour the city shows itself in all colours, from tourist filled canals, to the posh areas of the center to the local working class streets where open windows allow us to hear the local volkszangers or the churchgoers just leaving the service at the Egyptian coptic church in their Sunday best. We would have spent a few more hours exploring the city like this, if a nasty wind hadn't picked up.

- I imagine being in the Mezrab tonight is similar to making a bakfiets journey through our city. Because tonight we have the Mezjam! It's a free night in which our host Babak allows everyone to join in the fun. From the classically trained, to the folk musicians and singers from all corners of the globe. You're also very welcome to just sit and enjoy with a bowl of soup! Doors open at 19.00, event starts at 20.00!

- Can't make it tonight? Consider coming on Tuesday. As you (hopefully) know we use the Tuesdays to experiment with storytelling formats. The coming one is Tell, then show!, a night in which anyone can discover they are a storyteller. We listen to clips of people's favorite songs, movies or pieces from a book, we get moved when we hear the personal stories behind the attachment to these moments. This Tuesday the host will be Chidi! Like tonight the Tuesday is free of charge (though donations are appreciated).

- On Thursday June 13 we already have the last music event of the season curated by Rogier. Two duos bring us an intimate journey through Hungary, the Balkans, Armenia and even Latin America. It promises to be a special night! Click here to read about and listen to the music of Siga & Silente and Cukros Csirkecomb. Tell your friends about these magical musicians visiting (or just buy them tickets, because you're a great person).

- Saturday June 15 we open the doors for another Mezrab Alt Comedy night. What is this you might ask? Well, all the genius madness that doesn't fit our stand up comedy event comes here. From clowns to sketch comedy, weird props, you name it. This night, curated by Lara, is silently revolutionizing the comedy scene in the Netherlands! Get your tickets here

Well, that's it for the week. Hope to see you at the events!

Hugs,
Sahand & Team

PS, did you know that we are starting another professional course in September? It's a five month experience for those who want to dive deeply into the art of storytelling. We only have twelve spots for this course, and it is filling up rapidly. Have a look on our website if you have the ambitions to do storytelling professionally! www.mezrabstorytellingschool.nl

PPS, Mezrab performers Joe and Nasim performed at the Queer arts festival in Den Bosch, look at the great write up they received in the Theaterkrant! https://www.theaterkrant.nl/recensie/queer-arts-festival-2024/2024/
