Dear you!

There's a game my daughters started playing recently. They run to me at full speed while shouting super sonic speed! And then they crash into me with their tiny fists. Now, I'm with the girl power aspect of this set up, even if they pack quite a punch. What bothers me is the wonky physics of their statement. If they were really super sonic, then surely I would feel the punch before I would hear them say it right? So hearing them before they punch me by definition means they are not super sonic, they are very much subsonic. Which they are refusing to yell out while they play. All this is to say I live in a household in which storytelling has split into two camps, with one camp sacrificing accuracy for aesthetics.

It's ok, Mezrab caters to many different styles and preferences:

Tonight! Are you coming for the last experimental Tuesday of the season? The last season was a blast with different hosts trying to bring a variety of content to try out. We end the season with a show in which all the performers themselves are hosts! Come and enjoy an eclectic night! Doors 19.00 / show 20.00 / Free entrance

Thursday July 2 / Afro Anatolian Tales brings us an actual supersonic treat. No, they are not faster than sound, but their music is of a superior level. Expect dreamy melodies and enticing rhythms, mixing a tapestry of musical landscapes with original compositions! Listen here and grab your tickets. Tell all your friends!

Saturday July 4 we have a workshop by the guru of Improv theater, mr. Tim Orr. He will teach improvisers, beginners as well as advanced performers the ins and outs of creating interesting characters. This is selling out fast. Info here

On Sunday July 5 we want you to come to our New Harvest night. We have challenged three performers (Marion Laville, Rasha Hilwi, Grainne Delaney) to do something they have never done before, a 25 minute investigation each into where storytelling meets theater. We ask a small entrance fee, all of which goes to the performers, you get to see the growth of art, while experiencing a beautiful night. Tickets here.

Finally on Tuesday July 7 you get to enjoy Tim Orr the improv Guru with our very own Raffi Feghali. I know I said the Tuesdays of the season are over, but we had to add this one to make use of the presence of the master. There's a small ticket price you can pay here

That's it for now, hope to see you at the events! (I know I always write that, but I will actually attend most of these, I need to hide somewhere from the super sonic fists of my daughters).

hugs,
Sahand

PS, are you going to miss us this summer while you are travelling? Grab a Mez book! In the finer Amsterdam bookstores or in the Mezrab itself.
