Hi everyone,

This morning I woke up to the usual dark, wind and rain of the season. We pushed on with the cargobike to bring the kids to school on time. It's moments like this that you doubt everything. But if we hadn't, this is what we would have missed: the strips of blue and pink appearing at the horizon, slowly pushing onwards until the sky turned clear. A warm coffee as a reward for being kind and gentle parents, the realization that there's beauty in unexpected moments, and we create a lot of our own happiness.

Yes we do, by being together and sharing music, stories, jokes, and so much more:

Tomorrow (Tuesday) Fer Rodil is hosting a Tuesday night called Off the Page. For those who don't know, this is a storytelling event in which Fer explores the differences and similarities between the written and spoken word. This edition is dedicated to the Mezbook we recently released. Come to the night, enjoy some stories (it's free!) and if you feel like it, pick up a copy of the book!

On Thursday we go nuts with the Anatolian Electro of the multi instrumentalist Deniz Mahir Kartal. He explores the outer and inner worlds, as only sufi infused poetry and melodic lines can. What you can do is go to the event page, listen to the tracks and buy tickets for yourself and your friends. Student discounts available!

Friday night you are very welcome to go to the Storylab at the Other Mezrab (de Wittenstraat 27) for a special storytelling event. One of our main teachers (Raphael!) will work with storytellers during the day, after which they will show the fruits of their work for you, the audience. Doors open at 19.00, event starts at 20.00.

Saturday night is for the EP release party of Johnny and the Space Machine!

Then on Sunday we have a Mezjam. Everyone is welcome to listen or to join in with their instruments. Yalla. Doors open at 19.00, free entry, jamming starts at 20.00. Babak is the kind host.

Finally here's one of the events of next week I'd like to point out:

Some old school Mez fans might remember the locally legendary band Caspian Hat Dance which formed by a bunch of young'uns meeting at the Mezrab. When we played one of the formations that inspired us of course included the Amsterdam Klezmer Band. We also shared the stage a few times with the powerhouse Antwerp Gypsy Ska Orchestra. Imagine my absolute glee when hearing that they will play TOGETHER on Thursday Dec 18! Wow, music and tix here.

Yalla, see you at the events!

Sahand & Team
