Hi everyone,

Hope you are doing well. I am writing you a short mail to tell you about some events. I don't have anything cute to say this week, but I hope you are happy to read all this and copy it in your planner!

Events:
- Tomorrow (Tuesday): the monthly Samizdat night, in which the personal meets the political. Host is Basak! (Free, but donations appreciated)
- Thursday we have a great Sicilian music night (including great finger food!) the magical maestro Vincenzo is bringing his friends. Don't miss this! Listen and get tickets.
- Friday we have a variety night in the Other Mezrab! (de Wittenstraat 27) Expect stories, music and more! (Free, donations)
- Sunday we host another jam by the friendly folk of Club Partout! Come with an instrument or just come to listen.
- Monday May 26 we have a Comedy Open Mic! Another free event because we love to share comedy with you, and comedians need audiences to tell comedy to! (free / donations)

- Sunday June 1 we have the last New Harvest Night of the season! While you are used to coming to nights in which many tellers do short stories, every once in a while we invest in a night in which three artists do a longer piece, including theatrical elements (Light? Music? movement?) The night is a perfect place to give birth to longer pieces, and many performers on the New Harvest Night have done exactly that, take what they showed you here and expanded it to pieces that went to play in theaters! Now, what we need is an audience, so grab a ticket (very low symbolic price) here.

Workshops:
May 30, 31 and June 1 is the weekend in which our best teacher Raphael Rodan is guiding you through the foundation of telling stories. This weekend is beautiful and almost always sold out. For these days we have a few spots left. If you are interested go to: www.mezrabstorytellingschool.nl

Call to action:
While you know we have open mics for storytelling and comedy, you might not know that we actually are looking to offer a stage for other performances as well! If you would like to join the night and you are a:
- puppeteer
- physical performer (mime, dance, clown, etc)
- musician (singer/songwriter, instrumentalist)
- (slam) poet
- any style I might have missed

then send a reply to this mail and we will say if we can fit you in one of the nights!

There you have it!

PS, our dear friends of the Lampedusa boats are starting their season of offering performances on their floating stage! They do so on the actual ships which were used by refugees to travel over the mediterranean. Coming Sunday one of their first performances will be Mezrab's own Naomi, sharing her story of leaving her home in Uganda and building a new life in Amsterdam! Go to the site of Rederij Lampedusa for more info and tickets.
PPS, I am doing a Persian language storytelling one off on Monday May 26 in the Other Mezrab. If you are Iranian, Afghan or Tajik and you like our storytelling nights, but you feel the language was a barrier to fully enjoy or to participate, join us on May 26 at 20.00 (doors open at 19.00) in the Other Mezrab (de Wittenstraat). This is a free night!
