Hi Everyone,
Sometime in 2014 we decided on a plan that seemed like an absurd dream: being in the basement of our current Mezrab location we heard the owner of the cafe above us was selling the place. We wanted to grow, but we had no money. We did, however, have you, so we decided to raise part of the take over costs with a crowdfunding campaign. It involved a video of me in front of a green screen, holding a bucket and begging for money. The bucket stood for the bucket of money we needed. What an adventure things have been since.
Now, I'm not just reminiscing for the sake of it. I am happy to announce we just started another crowdfunding. Smaller in scope than last time. It's for a project that simply states that we are here, and we managed to make a home for ourselves. The
we being over thirty Mezrabians you might have seen on stage, The stories are collected in the very first Mezrab book that we are self publishing. By donating you get to receive one of the books (or more) to take these wonderful people from your home away from home into your actual home. Have a look at
the campaign here, tell your friends and be generous!
Apart from the campaign I'd love to tell you about the following:
Tonight we have another edition of Pearls on a String. In this night, which I will host myself, we bring together storytellers, improv actors and musicians in a unique meeting to discover how their art interacts and creates something only for one night! Come!
On Thursday we have the long awaited concert of Syrian clarinetist and composer
Ghaeth Almaghoot and his quintet!
Info and tickets here.
On Sunday we have another Orchestre Partout Jam! (free, just come to listen or play)
Finally have a look at the line up for our
next South Italian night! This is happening on
Thursday Oct 2.
That's it! Enjoy!
