Come to the mez tonight!

Hi everyone,

Yes it's Sunday, which in many traditions is a day of rest. But when you do what you love it doesn't feel like work. And While that saying was invented to maximize productivity in a capitalist system I feel I am too invested to back off now. And mostly, I have a time sensitive message that can't wait till tomorrow: You need to come to the Mez tonight! It's time for the Tell, then Show! night, which is hosted by the wonderful Karl, who decided to start a night for people who might not necessarily see themselves as storytellers. He gently invites you to talk about something you are passionate about in a setting he often describes as a jam session, but for personal stories. The great thing is, you can also just come and listen, without participating. If, you know, you want to keep respecting the Sunday rest. Doors 19.00, entry is free!  

Now, the thing with storytelling is that you don't need to have taken courses to do it. I myself started simply by throwing myself into the deep end. I learned through schade and schande, as the Dutch say. (which, inexplicably does not translate to shade and shandy. But if you do prefer to go the workshop round, which honestly you should consider since the workshops aren't just a lot of fun, they also teach you skills that are generally useful to have in life! So, what you waiting for, go to the Mezrab Storytelling School site, sign up for a three day course, like the one starting on May 15 and get your story on!

Then when the week starts tomorrow I want to invite to the following events:

- Monday May 4 / Comedy Open Mic. Come join and witness the birth of new jokes. Free night!

- Tuesday May 5 / Mythos! Danny hosts a night that transports us to the age of myths, legends and folktales!

- Friday May 8 / Story Lab. For this event only we gather in the Other Mezrab (de Wittenstraat 27) to witness a night of stories that were worked on and coached on that day! - Saturday May 9 / Beats Kebab. Good ol fashioned party time with London based Babi and NL based Katayoun. Look!

- Sunday May 10 / Mezjam! Get together and play, or listen. Babak weaces us expertly together. Free entry. 

- Tuesday May 12 / LGBTQ Storytelling night!

- Thursday May 14 / Anatolian Jazz? yes, absolutely. Dig into tracks, get tickets and tell your friends. 

- Saturday May 16 / Alt Comedy Night. Because the absurd also deserves a home in Mezrab. Get your tickets, relax and let it wash over you!
