One of the interesting takes I read recently was an online post which claimed the following. Humans never needed to work out, until technology took over everything that required physical effort. Since then our bodies need us to make an effort in gyms, only to develop strength, endurance and flexibility which in older times simply living our lives would afford us. It went on to say that one of the consequences of AI taking over mental tasks of writing, composing, looking up information, calculating, and so much more, a similar process is started for our minds, especially those of future generations. They will not develop by themselves. unless we take them to mental gyms.
Now, it might sound dystopian, but at the same time, isn't that what the Mezrab is? Here I was thinking we are doing something from the past: meeting to listen to live performed stories, music and comedy. But actually we are in the future: we have our space in which we practice the mental art of creation as well as the art of experiencing it. And if that isn't enough, you can even study storytelling with us: train your grey matter to consider structure, finding the words and connect with your fellow human.
So, if not simply for your enjoyment, here's some nights that you have to join, because it's part of your mental regimen now:
Tonight we have a Storytelling Tuesday. And not just anyone, one that I am hosting myself. Because I missed all of you and I have a few things to tell, and so do the mix of people I have invited. Come for the surprises. Stay for the mystery. (no, they're not the same). Doors 19.00
Thursday - Fun night of music
mixing Latin American tunes with Italian ones in a concert by
Warekes! Just look at thi, listen to the tracks and
make sure you are there.
Saturday - the return of the
Alt Comedy night. On this night all the comedic art forms that don't have a stage elsewhere meet: clowns, physical theater, sketch comedy and so much more. The headliner is always some absurdly good act that brought down the house on international stages. Tickets
here.
Sunday - Get together and dance on old European tunes. The night comes with instructions on
how to dance the dances! I say night, but it actually starts at a very friendly late afternoon.
Then next week there's a lot of music to enjoy:
Thursday (Apr 23) - intimate music night called
Gay and Unplugged.
look!
Saturday (Apr 25) -
Disco Diaspora party taking us to sunny and funky
Cape Verde.
Tickets and info.
Sunday (Apr 26) - Start your King's night right by hanging out with us in the Orchestre Partout Jam. Or hang out with us to ignore the royal celebrations. Either way, come!
There you go! The future is safe with us. See you at the events!

PS, I mentioned studying storytelling. Something everyone should do really, as there isn't anyone who won't benefit from this. Check out our three day workshops here:
