Dear you,

As we are nearing the first day of spring it's good to remind you (or if you are a new Mez-friend, to tell you for the first time) about this yearly thing we do. Mezrab, marks the beginning of spring with a Storytelling Marathon! Oh, a Marathon, isn't that what elite runners run in 2.5 hours? Isn't that the length of a normal storytelling night? True, true, but ours will be 12 hours of stories (from 12.00 till 24.00. 6 hosts, more tellers and surprise acts than my math can handle. All this is happening on March 22nd!

Can't wait for WSD? We got you covered:

There is a free comedy open mic tonight. Doors 19.00, comedy 20.00.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) we have our LGBTQ+ storytelling night, hosted by Marijn! (Aksi free)
On Thursday we welcome the  Armenian/Kurdish/Turkish fusion quartet Nasin! They have a sublime sound: Listen and buy tickets here
Saturday Night is the night for dancing at our Disco Diaspora event with a special Sranang (Surinam) edition! Look!
Thursday March 05 is the night for Greek Rebetiko music with Sousouro Collective. Hoppa: listen en tickets

And finally on Thursday March 12 we invite the Jewish British storyteller Shonaleigh. You might know that we love to bring the holders of the storytelling traditions to Mezrab, so we don't lose connection with our roots, even if we forge new ways of telling. Shonaleigh carries the traditional stories her grandmother told her. In Mezrab she will tell the story the Fool of the Warsaw Ghetto. A story that reminds us there is magic, even when everything seems dark. Tickets here

That's it for now, plenty to choose from. (and many more events, which you can find by going to mezrab.nl).

See you at the shows!

Sahand & Team

PS, do you know that my wife and Mezrab host Rasha and I made a show last year? It's about how we made Iranian-Palestinian babies. We played it just a few times, and are happy to play it again in Theater Bellevue on Tuesday April 21st. Look: a link.
