In this era of post-truth how can we trust what we hear
especially from authorities? Claims are being made continuously but whether
they hold any water is up for debate and this has clearly become a problem- a
serious problem. One way we can hold authorities accountable for the claims
that they make is by asking them for evidence.
The London based non-profit Sense about Science started the campaign “Asking for Evidence”. In this I will talk about Sense about Science, this campaign and how the public can get involved.
Speaker:
Dr Danae Dodge is a science communicator/ advocate based in
Sheffield and she is an ambassador for the Ask for Evidence campaign run by
Sense about Science. She received her BSc from Newcastle University, and her
MSc and PhD from Sheffield University specialising in ancient genetics. In
addition to Sense about Science, she also volunteers for EU chapter of Sense
about Science, Science Brainwaves of the British Science Association and The
Scientista Foundation. In her spare time she is currently learning about
science policy.
