People did report afterwards.  If there had been anyone on the street, probably they would not have done this.  These two are experienced criminals, having had a court date set for August 11, before which, they committed this crime.  They should not have been let out of prison in the first place.  This is just sad!  There were two other murder cases of Eve Carson and  Faith Hedgepeth in 2008, 2012 at UNC before this.  One happened at night around 1am in the parking lot and the other was a break-in during early morning hours.

 Dr. Feng Liu is our long time friend for 16 years and colleague ( both University of Pittsburgh and UNC Chapel Hill ). We were in the UNC hospital when he had surgery that night. We need to obtain his family's permission first before giving Cafa their contact information. Thank you all for your kind support at this very sad and difficult time. The funeral service date hasn't been determined yet. The state police department is collecting forensic evidence now. The family is also waiting for his relatives from China.

受害者是我一位朋友的大学同学，她昨天去看望遇难者家属，回来写了下面一段话：

刚从逝去的朋友家回来！朋友的一只大狗听到脚步声还以为他的主人回来了！大叫着跳到门前，之后又很伤感地静静地等待着...[流泪]主人再也不能回来了！[流泪]

让我们整个华人社区联合起来，反对暴力，表达权力，支持遇难家庭，特别是那位忠诚主人的狗狗！

So sad and angry to hear such tragedy one my 1st travel day for a cruise.  We need some experienced attorney to help come up most effective ways to have the justice be served.  We should also contact UNC office and team up with school officials and get their dept head, professors' letters to support this effort.  Also, gathering a group of folks (even 10 or 20 folks from both Chinese background and also UNC professors or any community folks would be ok) and present a petition letter to Chapel Hill Police Dept can be very effective (especially if we can contact any news media to report this).  This will give them pressure to do thing diligently and fairly.  Raleigh Academy of Chinese Language will support this effort.

The fear is that the police department will delay the case with an excuse of 'no evidence,' etc.  which happened with the murderer who killed Eva and before Eva he had murdered an Indian student at Duke and the case was not solved so he killed Eva.  As a community we need justice served as soon as possible.  Again, if it is not solved, the whole community will be in danger just like Eva's case, not only the Chinese community!

I was totally shocked.  The tragedy happened less than 100 meters from where I park every work day.    I had never thought such a horrible event could happen to anyone (let alone to one of our fellow Chinese) in that peaceful neighborhood during daytime.   This morning, I saw one bundle of flowers at the scene.  Not sure who put it there but shouldn’t we send more there?  In addition to other events that CAFA is organizing now, CAFA may consider setting up a candle night together with the UNC community to memorize Feng, and to share our grieves and support.

Well said! Seems one of the two murderers was supposed to be in jail but he was able to conduct such a brutal non-human attack on street in daylight! There are serious problems with the law enforcement system in this country. Luckily the police dept was efficient enough this time, hope other parts of the law enforcement system won't let these two trash guys go freely on streets this time.

Please anyone let me know what I can help to change this, even a little change is a progress.

These two criminals should not have been released before their trial in the first place!  Assigning police to patrol is good but the most important thing is not to release the high risk criminals.  Two men were killed because of this.  I would be very surprised if they would not do anything about this and still let high risk criminals free!  We should push Chapel Hill, Durham or even the state to draft a motion to let this kind of criminals be put behind bars!

刚从逝去的朋友家回来！朋友的一只大狗听到脚步声还以为他的主人回来了！大叫着跳到门前，之后又很伤感地静静地等待着...[流泪]主人再也不能回来了！[流泪]

让我们整个华人社区联合起来，反对暴力，表达权力，支持遇难家庭，特别是那位忠诚主人的狗狗！
