Ihave Fios Quantum Gateway 100 mbs. I started having issues with certain webpages being blocked by McAfee Home Network Protection by Verizon. The warning page that appeared stated "Whoa, we flagged this site as malicious. Sure you want to go there? This site could steal your sensitive info and hijack your device with malware.". It would give you the option to continue to the site anyway, but it wouldn't actually do it. At the same time I had certain web pages that had some information stripped from it. All of the websites I had either problem with worked fine about a week ago. This was happening on all of my devices. Using my phone, I turned off it's WIFI access and used my DATA. It went to all of the sites in question and they were fine. I then used another company's internet service and all was well with that too.

I looked at the router settings, but they looked OK. I then searched my account to see if anything changed and it had. I noticed that Home Network Protection was listed as my current account setting. I never saw this feature before, nor did I ask for it. So I tried to disable it, but couldn't. I started a chat with Verizon Technical Support to have them disable it. They had no idea what I was talking about and even asked me where I saw this feature in my account. I told the where and got the response that I just needed to uninstall it from my computer. I told them I had not loaded anything to my computer and this issue was on ALL of my devices. I could tell they were operating by a "script" and asked them to actually READ what I stated. I got absolutely nowhere.

So, just for grins and giggles, I decidied to restore my modem from a restore point made a month ago. That did the trick. I'm not sure which setting on my modem caused the issue. I starting to think it was either a hidden setting or a virus, but I think a virus would be a stretch. To be safe, I imediately saved the modems configuration file to my computer. Verizon's technical support doesn't seem to have knowledge about it. If someone else has this issue I hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. I've been watching to see if it comes back. I know exactly which sites cause the issue. I'm with you about control. I do not appreciate having features or add-ons activated without my knowledge. I think I'm going to look into my own router. Until then, I have the backup that's completely in my control.

Go to Verizon app on your phone. Then click the ... in the upper right corner. From the pull down menu, select Account & Settings. Then select Security Settings. Then turn off Home Network Protection.

Thanks for this tip! I searched every link on-line with no mention on how to deactivate the Home Network Protection. It would be nice if there was an option to add sites to a safelist or adjust the level. As is, this service blocks sites I've used for years with no problems and it makes me less productive. Had no choice but to disable it.

THANK YOU! Sorry it appears I can't upvote/Kudo's you for some dumb reason. Either its cause I just joined this forum thing or the verizon tech guys need to fix this support site. Anyway I had to express my gratitude.

in the newest version of the app the "..." is located on the upper left lef side as opposed to the upper right hand side. When I select the radio button to enable Home network protection is tries to to and never connects it comes back with an error Failed to run off network protection, wich is crazy because i'm trying to actually turn it on not off.

I am not having this problem on my phone, just my laptop, and when I go to the Fios app on my phone, nothing pops up about Home Network Protection no matter how long I wait. Does anyone know how to get this off my laptop?? Please!! It's making me crazy!!!

Hello, at home my family has the G3100 router. We would like to disable the HNP as it is redundant because we all have anti-virus installed on all the machines. When I went to look up where the HNP setting was none of the guides are up-to-date.

Hey I've been experiencing the same issue as OP and was forwarded this post by one of your social media reps. Is there anything you can do to help?

To reiterate, the basic issue is that a) legitimate websites are being blocked with un-bypassable malware warnings, with a Verizon/McAfee-branded page mentioning HNP. b) trying to change HNP settings in the FIOS app as mention in the support pages results in the error message "HNP is not activated on your account". From my perspective this is clearly a configuration issue on your guys' end that probably arose after I was sent a replacement router... but I've had a heck of a time finding anyone at Verizon or even McAfee who can do something about it.

help! i am having same problem and have spent over 8 hours on phone and chats trying to deal with it. been bounced around between various verizon tech supports and mcafee tech support, each pointing their finngers at each other - what do I do?

I cam getting constant and continuous multiple security exceptions for p53-caldav.icloud.com saying it's the wrong site. I have made not changes to the thunderbird setup except for normal updates. i've confirmed these multiple times but they still keep coming. Any help would be great

That was all weird to me, so I did the usual and googled. I saw other with the same sorts of issues on chromebook and pixel forums among other places. The one that struck me was one of the resolved and that person was a Verizon customer with a Verizon FIO router that was causing the issue. =en&msgid=149041810

If that is not the issue, then we still have this announcement, also from McAfee indicating their software is embedded in routers from "D-Link, Arris, Verizon, CenturyLink, and others". So they do not offer a comprehensive list but hopefully that will be enough to track down the issue.

Clicking on the view button does nothing, I can't see any certificate. If i click Get certificate it then changes to say the certificate is valid but still can't view it when clicking the view button...

So your antivirus products self signed certificate is the issue. You will need to consult the McAfee documentation on how to include that in the Thunderbird certificate store. If you trust McAfee enough to give them access to all encrypted connections that is. I certainly don't.

Yes, I do have a verizon router. This has happened in the past and eventually went away on it's own but it is persisting now and very annoying. I appreciate you looking into this for me. This is not on a chromebook but rather on an LG PC. To note I'm not getting any errors of this sort using my iphone or mac, though not using thunderbird there. GoIng to check out the links you sent now.Sharon
